MOGSouth (US Morgan Club) went fully digital with its newsletter. The newsletter was created and posted to the MOGSouth web site as a PDF file for all to download or read online. (It's available to all. Go to www.mogsouth.com)

- This eliminated all print and post costs (huge savings!!). Huge labor savings as well.
- It also meant an increase in newsletter frequency (no printing delays) - Went from 6 issues/year to 12 issues and the number of pages increased as well.
- Color images were everywhere without consideration of color printing costs.
- The news was immediately reported. (No longer 'old news' caused by printing and posting delays.)
- Essential communication of club events, wants and sells, etc., was more timely.
- Club dues hasn't had to be increased in over 10 years.

- As a result, the club saw an 'increase' in membership.

(Yes, there are three hard copies still printed and mailed, to those too old to have access to the internet.)

Just some food for thought.

Cheers,

Mark

Just renewed membership.Must admit printing off the form and posting and writing a cheque. Was a pain .yes I still use cheques!
What suprise me was getting all the back issues of the magazine.
It was my fault my membership lasped did not expect the old magazines.
Did not look at the cost of sending them to me.
Will keep membership because want to be part of a centre.

agree totally. I didn't renew, couldn't see any point as I don't want to play golf or a monthly drive to meet for lunch in my tin top. Get the club back to its grass roots, provide a better range of services for enthusiasts that actually drive their cars, take out the nay sayers to change and I'd join back up in a flash.

I think these comments speak volumes about the inabilities of a long standing & admired club to move forward with the membership.

My village has a photocopied monthly 'newsletter' that has been pushed through everyone's letterbox in the Parish for years. It's a Church thing as well, and many are the businesses that sponsor it, but it's dire & run by the same man for the last THIRTY years at least..! In parallel, someone in the village runs a village Facebook page & it's thriving with loads of people joining in.

I'm not a member of the MSCC primarily because I can't join on-line & I'm not prepared to post my bank details or card details including the numbers on the back!!

I can't comment on the magazine as I only read the one's I've pinched from dealers..

Get rid of the muppets in charge. They are only trying to create a full time job for one of them. It is what they have been working towards for the last couple of years.

It's easy to ask for such things but who would do the job if not one or more of the old muppets?
I am no MSCC member so I actually do not mind who's on top or not.

Oldbill.Funnily enough on the email that went out to the clubs it mentioned several members stepping down but takeing staff on as full time.I think Mscc can count themselves very lucky you have to pay the subscription to be a member of the various centres around the country ,if this wasent the case and without the 10000 pound re payment for the statue the books would look a lot worse.

As a moderate I think we need to speak a tad more politely about those who currently produce Miscellany.

Change is needed - one reason why I voted for PeterJ to become Chair.

But you know my overriding feeling is one of sad disappointment.

Then I ask myself ...how come the MTWC is (IMO) so much better?

Their web site is very good - and up to date.

You can join and renew on line and via paypal.

Mmm yes MSCC ...disappointing all round.

Is this a Tanker turnround job? Very possibly.

I do not envy PeterJs job.

When I didn't renew after 22 years last year there was no follow up from the club to ask why, despite them having all my contact details.

I am not surprised to hear they are having difficulties (potentially) I am a member but tbh can't understand why I renew every year, the magazine now only gets a cursory glance in bed the day it arrives and it's in the re cycling the next morning. The club's image, unfortunately for me, personal opinion here,is one of dusty old men playing with their dusty old cars represented by a magazine that makes Saga look racy......and that is not the reality. I don't think MSCC does anything to enhance the image and appeal of Morgan ownership to the wider audience.

I'm sure Peter is on the case. I seem to remember we had a similar discussion when we heard he was willing to put himself up for Chairman, and he can now see both sides. I'm sure it can't be easy to modernise, buy why it can't be done I am not sure. I can't believe that the committee conists of old farts who do not have computers, after all, most of us are old farts and we are happy to use them, do they not want to spend the money they haven't got to modernise? I don't know, but I think we should thank the volunteers that are running the club, not insult them, but they must strive to bring it into the digital age as soon as possible [Peter?]
