Will do Tim Tyre is on the rim, it's balanced, the centre of the steel sprocket has been painted and the brake stripped down, cleaned up and re-assembled. Just need to get the wheel back in and will be ready for tomorrow's glorious sunshine.
All weather tyre now fitted ready to go (hopefully) tomorrow. It'a Nokian Weatherproof 175/65 R15 T84 and though it is marked M&S it allegedly is very good in the wet and also in summer, dry conditions too. We shall see...
First run on the Nokian tyre today. Much better on the damp greasy roads than the largely worn out Dunlop it replaces but then most things would be. No more wheelspin in third like last week but it must have been about 7 degrees warmer today. Seriously though, it seems to just work, gives a good amount of feel and wheelspin is now optional when setting off from rest, but is still available! Some photos in the Morgan Gallery
Had fun this weekend. THREE Laps that couldn't last less than 180 secs nor more than 240. The closer you got to 180 the better, but what really was important was to be precise in meeting this criteria:
- The 2nd lap should be 5 secs quicker than the 1st.
- the 3rd lap should be 8 secs quicker than the 1st.
Thanks! As usual, I don't think the video gives a true account of what REALLY is happening. It all seems very quiet, precise, clinical and ... slow!
In fact, the first lap is slow, the second is just lively but in the third I was doing all I could (within reason). The car was sliding in every corner. All 3 wheels LOL, but the video doesn't show it.
There's (only) one "visual" hint about how close to the limit of composure I was. It's in the last double left corners of the last lap, just before entering the S/F straight. The fronts are sliding out as usual when I enter this double left section, but then, in the middle of it, the rear starts to go and, just before the very last corner, I have to decisively counter-steer or else I'd straight into the tyre sitting behind that last corner's apex.
Can't match your video Mario, never mind the sunshine but have been out again today enjoying the fine winter weather, photos in the Morgan Gallery. Conclusions from today; thin smooth soled race shoes aren't great for walking about in deep snow and when the layer of ice that forms on the screens melts, it flies off in chunks straight into your face. I suppose it's a variant on these modern high-tech systems for keeping a tired driver alert.
What do you drink with ice? Whatever it is keep a bottle close by and pour it into your mouth whenever you find chunks of ice going in your direction too
