A twenty pence piece works great as a tool in the oversize slots to open the cell covers. Good tip

Chris Must have put about 500mls in mine. Same here regards topping up battery's. Apparantly poor voltage regulation can cause low electrolyte Reckon everone should get out and check levels

I drove my M3W on Monday, first time its been started for 4 1/2 weeks. Switch ignition on & off 3 times before attempting start & it went no bother. Probably helped that the temp was 13C as against 1C a few days before. Battery now 2 1/2 years old & I have the immobiliser.

Tried to start the M3W after 4 weeks unused, switched on off 3 times as per usual, spun for about 10 seconds and then not enough power to turn over, recharged the battery same result, recharged the battery and another old battery I had lying around connected the two 2 together and the M3W started easily. In contrast my 4/4 which has a much larger capacity battery started easily. I think it is getting time for a new M3W battery despite it being less than 3 years old and always on a battery conditioner. This is the second time this winter now it has failed to start without a lot of aggravation.

My start after 4 1/2 weeks unused was without the benefit of a battery minder. Started it again today when it was 2C in the garage, a bit more churning, it started 2nd attempt.

So after struggling to start the M3W yesterday and eventually getting it started, thought I would go and fill up for tomorrows trip to the factory. The battery had been on the conditioner all night, the engine spun for 5 secs before the battery gave up. At least today it was in a position to jump it from another car. So moved the cars around again and it is the 4/4 tomorrow and a new battery for the M3W next week. Has anyone any experience of Westco batterys https://www.tayna.co.uk/WCP30-Westco-Platinum-Motorcycle-Battery-YIX30L-BS-SVR30-P7811.htmlThis is a direct physical replacement for the standard Banner battery with plenty of power, the Odyssey 35 has good reviews but on the face of it is 50mm too wide.
