If you use Castrol Maganatec 5-30 or 10-40 in your Mog go to your nearest ASDA store. It's on sale at £20 per 4 litre can. I believe the retail rice is about £36 per 4 litre can. I have bought enough for my oil changes for 2016.

As a matter of interest our 2007 Suzuki Jimny Jeep was run on Magnatec most of its life from the dealer service and later by myself.

At 50,000 miles the sump suffered from corrosion from the outside due to the use of salt on the winter roads.

I had in 1993 to change the sump on my 36,000 mile Golf GTI for that same reason and it was serviced in accordance with the service schedule and the sump inner surface and all the internals of the engine had about a 6 mm black sludge covering.

On changing the Jimny sump in late 2013 both the internal surface of the sump and the engine components has a thin film of clean oil cover no slugde at all evident.

The only problem I have with Magnatec is it comes in 4 litre tubs which are great for lots of cars but just a bit tight for mid sized cars. In my case with a fleet not a problem but for those running only one car it can mean having to buy an expensive 1 litre tub to do an oil change.

Great stuff in my book.

Please don't use Magnatec oil in a 4/4 fitted with Ford CVH engine

For some reason (I've never adequately investigated why fully), the CVH burns Magnatec at about the same rate as it does petrol....

Out of interest what viscosity of Magnatec did you use, was it 5W/30 for Ford or 10W/40 and what make and viscosity of oil provided better oil consumption.

We're going back nearly 20+ years to when I was a service mechanic...

I believe it was the 10/40 Magnatec but my memory is a bit vague

For better oil consumption, check the valve guides and stem seals are in good condition on a CVH
They tended to wear faster than most
Valve stem seals are easy to change without taking the head off

I've always rated Morris oils
I did extensive testing with them when I was running a mixed breed bunch of historic racers in the HSCC
Their 10w60 competition oil works incredibly well

We even ran it in both the Roadster and the Aero in both Britcar 24 HR races
Mind you, the Aero damaged its air filter and ingested a fair amount of dust and snot, which didn't do the rings any good
I think by the end of the race we were tipping in Tescos cheap as chips multi grade ....
