Thanks Mark, I know what it basically looked like from regularly greasing the nipples but great to have an exploded view. I thought maybe by 2011 they might have put the better King pins in. A Morgan mechanic in Auckland, Derek Atkinson will fit chrome hardened pins which he guarantees for 30,000km. He will take delivery of your suspension and ream out and fit new pins and freights back to you to refit. I hope mine last as well as some of the ones mentioned on Talk Morgan. I will grease a lot more often. Not a lot of Morgan mechanics to choose from here. I will search for grease nipples down under. We are at present on a road trip to the north of New Zealand (baby sitting en route) then back home to QUEENSTOWN in the south. This is our second road trip to the far north of NZ as we enjoyed the first one last year so much. Cheers

Johnny, just fitted hard chrome king pins on my 4/4 and Plus 4. Hard chrome is different, more industrial, than show chrome. Supposedly will last my life time. We will see.
Jay is very much correct in that the link I provided was for an older car, and it shows damper blades instead of the bearing 'thingees' that replaced the damper blades. Most of the cars we have in the US are still old enough to have damper blades. All of mine do.
I have been to both the north and south islands and envy you the great, scenic drives. Met up with Morgan folks on the north island in Paraparaumu, as well as Wellington. Enjoy your road trip!!
Cheers,
Mark

A very interesting topic. Very helpful. Also how do I locate the grease nipple on the drive shaft? And how often does it need greasing? Thanks, John
On recent PLUS 4, close to the gearbox the grease nipple is hidden under the car by the wooden board. On a friend PLUS 4 we cut a hole in the wood to create an access. But be careful, there is 2 electric wires in the close area, one on each side. Begin by a small hole and enlarge it by steps. If you don't have a lift or a jack it will be difficult. In my PLUS 4 2005 Morgan Handbook, "These should be greased at every service" (8000 km). On my 2005 PLUS 4 there is 3 grease nipples, one on each universal joint(2), and one on the sliding part of the shaft.

Is it worth asking Morgan where I should drill the holes? If there are 3 points it will be like finding a needle in a haystack. Thanks.

Hi Mark, Great that you have seen some of our lovely country. We stopped the other day in Taupo and a couple were inspecting the car so I went over and they said they didn't recognise the car as a north island car. We talked about adding a sunshade as the weather has been very hot for driving. Off to the far north beaches today - yahoo. My wife is Canadian so we have visited quite a bit of N America but not by Morgan. Cheers.

In the context of Dealer service, the MG Owners Club have run an annual Members Survey for many years, from which spares suppliers are rated by members. The results are published in the magazine with the number of responses per supplier which gives some balance.
Perhaps the MSCC might consider a dealer and specialist annual survey, because as I've said before, the comments on TM are not balanced, because some dealers are rarely or never mentioned, whereas others get regular exposure. good idea

Greased every 1,000 miles I also have Suplex front suspension - I suspect this helps via the excellent damping it gives to front of car. Hope this helps Cheers!
