I heard that orange peel on current cars is intended to hide imperfections.
The Morgan (at least mine) doesn´t have that. The paint is perfectly smooth and shiny like piano black. It has an absolutely even surface. No need to sand it.
I am using Swizöl (= Swissoil, Zymol, ...) on the Lotus and it still looks like new after 3 years and 20,000 km. Haven´t used it on the Morgan yet. The application takes some time to get it right.

Have to say my Aero 8 matches your experience - paint is perfectly smooth with no discernible orange peel.

I won't be having mine sanded.

When im detailing i use the Gloss It range of polishes, they are quite runny rather than pastes unlike most machine polishing compounds and what a finnish! Due to being very liquidy they dont create a fine layer of dust when polishing.
They have a really strong cutting action and work best on lower speeds, giving a high gloss shine that is very noticable even on white cars (currently doing my mates white supra)
This is the first white car ive done with these compounds and its woking brilliantly! Was using the Menzerna range before and these are so much higher quality!
