Guys. Thanks for the good advice re my previous post

In frustration (and ignorance) I took my 4/4 to the courteous local agent to resolve the wiper issue

Notwithstanding (I love that word!) that I had checked the fuses, the service people reckon there was a blown fuse and that the washer pump had failed.

After picking the car up and driving into the 32 C setting sun I tested the washers (good) and wipers (bad, not working with the washers, an early clue)

So it appears there is something else stuffing up my wiper circuit. Since the fuses sem tto be blowing capriciously.

Grateful as ever for suggestions.

Check the wires going into the miltipin plug on the back of the wiper motor. Wires may have broken and shorted out.

Good advice about the plug! Another often missed failure point for fuse blowing is one of the wiper wheel boxes may be a bit tight. They can corrode and its quite a fiddle of a job to disconnect the wiper rack cable and check to see if they are free and even more fun and games to strip out a wheel box and free and lube it up. When they go tight the wiper motor works against the mechanical resistance and the amperage increases and can pop the fuse!
