You tend not to think about problems unless they occur I guess - can't really think of any I have had - keeping the cars relatively simple probably helps.

Test drove a 3.7 Roadster and loved the power and torque but hated the rev hang and gearbox. Plus 4 did it for me and it is significantly quicker than 4/4's, my last two Morgan's were 4/4's so I believe I understand the difference and I don't believe the Morgan factory performance figures.
Bottom line though is that any Morgan is an individual choice and I can fully appreciate why any current model would be loved over all others, and I would be happy to own and drive any, so drive a few, choose your favourite, and enjoy!

When you say you find the factory figures questionable, could you clarify?

Maybe topspeed and acceleration of the 4/4?

An interesting debate, I have a Plus 4 which I of course love, upgraded from a previous 4/4, I enjoy the additional power and thought I wanted to go one more to a Roadster. I have my eye on one, slightly more recent than my Plus 4 but identical in colour and trim....but something has stopped me taking the plunge. I just think I am very happy with what I have.

I tried all of the Trads and without doubt the one IMO that was most fun to drive was the 4/4. Its very much a personal view but I thought that the Roadster simply had more power than the chassis was happy with.

The narrow winged Plus 4 provides the nimbleness of the 4/4 with the performance of a Plus 4. It's better than the sum of the parts, and a real Gem.

Good Evening everybody. Don't post often but browse forums regularly. Could I add a few thoughts of my own?
I purchased a 2005 +4 six years ago, when I retired. Influenced greatly by Richard Gilbert!!.Now tentatively thinking of changing to either a 3litre Roadster or +8. Have never driven a Roadster but have driven, back to back, my friend's 4litre +8 against my +4. Both of us were amazed at the completely different driving experience, and the ease of accessing the performance of the +4. I am tentatively looking at a a top figure of £40k (given a good price against my +4). I see this sort of figure gives access to late model 3litre Roadsters and Rover engine +8's (Some nice ones advertised in Miscellany). Or, bit of thread drift here, maybe a +4 Supersports!. Tried one at Silverstone and mighty impressed. Or do I just stay with my trusty +4 to which both Mrs M and myself are very attached?

It's that the actual performance difference between the 4/4 and Plus 4 is greater than the 0.5 sec difference in 0-60 and 3mph in top speed stated by Morgan. You need to drive the cars to appreciate the difference rather than relying on figures that I am sure are made up rather than the result of testing.
Of course it's not just outright pace but the torque characteristics and power delivery of the two engines also make a noticeable difference in daily use as well.
Both cars are great fun, as is the Roadster, and it's very much personal choice which you prefer as all three trads are different to drive. What I was trying to get over was that you can't rely on the performance figures quoted by Morgan when comparing different models.
