my car is a "bitza" with a somewhat uncertain history that I'm attempting to piece together. I've found a 4 digit number (with no apparent relation to the chassis#) stamped high in the center of the firewall and in each inner fender (wing) panel. I've found no reference to these stampings on the internet; does anyone know what they signify?

regards,
Phil

If it is a Bitsa with no information the possibilities are enormous. My +8 Bitsa has information of where the parts came from. But even with that information, what is the purpose? Sort of "Car Detective" I guess. My +8 Bitsa does not have a Chassis Number that one would find in the MMC Log Book. If it did it would make the confusion even more complicated. This Bitsa is 98% Morgan Mfg. Parts. Just mixed years and not assembled by MMC. The engine did come from a Morgan, but not the heads. They came from a Buick 215. Don't ask Me why. I just bought a bunch of engine parts and had a machinist rebuild it into a running engine. I don't think MMC ever used an Edelbrock intake manifold and Carb. When this +8 goes thru an Estate Sale and the documentation is lost it will probably go up in value as a "Barn Find" or something. When actually it is just a well put together "Bunch Of Junk". I will giggle in My Grave.

Hopefully not for many years Bill.....I rather like the. Idea of an Internet group spending thousands of emails on debating its origins.......especially if a Canadian 'Ex-Spurt' claims to have his management contacts at MMC feed him inside information that it was a "special' and that he has most of its OE parts on his own car........ROFL

Live long and prosper Billl, we need you!

You need to ask the advice of anyone under the age of twelve..

It takes many years of finely honed skills to even try and understand the intricacies of posting pictures, or take the quick way and ask a kid..!!

I use a third party site to host some uploaded pics such as Photobucket. I stick some on there, and then paste the link on their site to the post on here, basically.

There are other ways, too.

Someone with brains will be along shortly..

Get registered on photobucket and then upload the pic/pics you wish to stick on here !(when you've uploaded just click on the img tab on the uploaded pic and paste onto the posting box on here and preview before you post , sometimes it takes one or two goes for it to produce a picture ! Be patient !
