Does anyone know what type / colour of primer was used for the 1960's and 1970's Morgans? I assume it was cellulose back then but happy to be corrected.

When I took the paint off my 1974 MGB, the primer was grey, and under that was a green/yellow etch primer.
I would imagine it to be cellulose based and that Morgan would use a similar process.

In 1977 I ordered new wings and a paneled body from the factory. They were painted in a reddish-brown primer.

More than likely Morgan had more than one possible primer. You don't make extra work by priming in a dark colour, and then painting the car white.
Very few two and three speeders are painted authentically, as they all should brushed - not sprayed. Most are far too good and never left the factory that good looking.
One of these days I'll re-paint my car as attempt one at brushing a car was a bit flawed.
