Can't remember ever seeing a picture of one. They were built by the Norwich fencing company of the same name in a factory in Wolverhampton. We did a study of it in primary school not sure why it's never come in useful like so much general school education.

Correct there is one at Hendon & airfix used to do a kit.

There is one at the RAF Museum at Hendon. Another museum I have to visit one day Paul!  ...& airfix used to do a kit... I must have seen a pic in the catalogue then, but definitely does not ring any bells...

Can't remember ever seeing a picture of one. Airfix used to offer a 1/72 kit....perhaps they still do. As has been said, an idea that didn't work, although I agree, with a couple of 20mm cannon in the wings 2 50 caliber guns in the turret, rather than 3 x 303 and a more powerful version of the Merlin it might have made quite a good bomber destroyer.

Defiants were switched over to night fighter duty in which they performed very well I believe ?
Geneva 2016 plus 8' The Green Godess' 4 side exits .

There was something on the end of the news two nights ago about the Spitfire and Southampton which I caught the end of , did anyone see it ?

Being a gunner in a Defiant was not a good place to be. As bad as being a rear gunner in a bomber, or in the belly turret of a B 17.

I'm really surprised now you mention it that the Defiant didn't have forward mounted guns as most latter WW1 aircraft had forward mounted guns and also many post war did as well - the Gloucester Gladiator had 4 forward guns - two synchronised Vickers on the fuselage and a couple more on the wing I think
So it seems quite an oddity
