70% with 66 miles. Seems accurate. Yeah... The 280mm sender is the way to go. Thanks Ken - on the strength of your findings have ordered one for my new build.

When I fill up the next time I'll report again and we'll have even better evidence.

Wow...just realized they only hold 6.6 gallons? It's more like 11 US gallons. Even with the longer sender the "reserve" left after the gauge hits zero is substantial. The longer sender is a vast improvement on the original type transforming the gauge from pointless to useful rather than all the way to anything resembling perfection. Also when filling the tank from a reasonably fast pump it is quite possible to hit the pump auto cut off with lots of capacity left in the tanks. Presumably down to filling faster than the balance pipe between the two tanks can transfer the fuel to the left tank.

Hmmmmm... My owner's manual says 25L, which is 6.6 gallons. No?

That's 100% down to zero on the original fuel sender and doesn't include all the reserve fuel below the bottom of the sender. Might be a coincidence but there is a limit on the fuel tank size allowed on the emissions certification that goes with the S&S engine package of something like 6.5 US gallons.

I put nine gallons in yesterday. I measured the the tanks and computed the volumn when getting fitted for a new frame. The two tanks hold 10.5 gallons US.

Doesn't sound like a coincidence at all. Sounds like exactly the reason Morgan is lying in the owner's manual!

I read the same bs on the S&S web site that stated their engine in a motorcycle frame couldn't have a bigger tank than 6.6 gallons. Morgan doesn't have to comply with that particular US requirement because the M3W is manufactured/assembled in England. I had a huge amount of heartburn thinking the Morgan would only have a range of 150 or so miles. We use the M3W for summer tour instead of the bike now and have run 280 miles on a tank before refueling.
