We did a 900 mile round trip from Phoenix to San Diego. The M3W ran great and I really like the Fairbourne Carriages wind screen. Averaged about 33 mpg at 75 mph.
First run of the season today. Charged the battery over night. Started on the second try and sounded normal, but the idle was a tad high. Lots of noise from bevel box and sprocket. The compensator is still behaving after the nipple conversion. Do not feel a need for Centa, as of yet. Blockleys performed well.
M3W beanie on which was necessary at a couple of degrees above freezing. Clear blue skies. A wonderful day. Wonderful. Still feel happy some hours later.
I collected my 3W today after she was collected by my dealer some time ago. (Shortly after last service the engine warning light came on and did not go off any more) They had to exchange the ECU-unit ( no cost to me) Got the frame front upgrade (free) and a steel sprocket wheel (at my cost). They aslo charged for some service work (appx 300km after the autumn service!). Total cost some € 1350,- On the way home I noticed a loose screw at the city cooling kit, a distance holder got lost and everything got loose. Back to the garage to have that fixed..
Drove some 100km today at temperatures close to freezing point and the M3W is back home now. Hopefully not too many more problems this year - Otherwise the little beast will be on the market soon.
Hannes once: Green M3W; 2013 now: Red 4/4 Sport; 2011 and some practical cars for use in real life
I am very new to this forum and will be going to Krazy Horse on Saturday to look at an M3W. A really important question for Mapman, if I may: where do you get the goggles from for your Jack Russell driver? Does he mind wearing them? I'll post if we take the plunge and introduce myself properly.
Tim , as The Austrian says " doggles " are the answer , I got some for our lurcher , he was very happy to wear them , he also loved the M3W and jumped in at any opportunity .
Good luck with your M3W search , my sport green one is at Krazy Horse !
Well, I went for a test drive with the Krazy Horse demo car today, with my 33 year old son. This late 2014 sports grey model has been upgraded with their stage 2 performance upgrade and looks to be well sorted.
I come to this game incredibly naive and green: the top speed of my current engine is 17.2 mph, I have never had a sports car, never driven a motorcycle. What are the reasons for even considering such a car? I have had a strange hankering for a sports car with tan upholstery and grey body colour, after seeing an open top Audi TT many years ago in that colour way. My father learnt to drive in a pre-war Morgan three wheeler and I've always liked their appearance with the visible engine. It is the only sports car that would fit in my garage (albeit with some re-arrangement of the machine tools).
As for the test drive, I have never driven anything with such noise and visceral acceleration! The ride comfort around the local Suffolk roads was far better than I expected, and it is a long while since I have been in a car that you actually drive. I don't think the grin left my face throughout the test run, although that may have been the wind. I suspect that I have been spoilt by driving this tuned M3W. No question my two sons (31 & 33) would like the car. If it's a mid-life crisis then, actuarially, I should now live to 120.
Downside is that my wife, who has had serious orthopaedic problems and is awaiting a R knee replacement, might get in to it but getting out could, currently, be rather challenging. So, I said I would phone them on Monday to let them know my decision.
Tim There is no sensible reason for getting a 3W. Just wanting one is enough. However be prepared for the reliability and build quality problems. They all have them, even the later cars. Performance wise the standard car is or feels dam quick so I wouldnt worry about that. They are brilliant to drive, nothing else compares. I have done 20,000 in mine and if it can go wrong it has. However it has still been an experience worth having. I do have serious concerns regarding longevity of whole drivetrain ( even the brilliant Mazda box gets a hammering from torque) I am serously considering the EV3 and if that is too expensive will be selling up and buying another motorbike. If you can afford it do it.
