Imagine the scene......... Accelerating hard on the A38 this morning  I feel something fall and hit my leg.....  I assumed that it was a pedal rubber..... But no....  After a bit of grovelling around - I found the heater control knob on the floor. Some time later, I examined said knob, and discovered that it's held in place by a 2mm allen headed grub screw. And here it is......  Just so you know.

Where is your heater control knob located Dave? Near to your Feet?  Mine is on the Dash. Apparently why the 4+4 2007 Heater Knob type is so difficult to turn on and off (4 clicks) is that it is attached to a very long cable that winds around and back into the heater. This cable has to be twisted to operate the heater temperature control.

On this photo Frank it's just visible to the right of the radio.The red & blue marks and the white pointer just show up......

Kept you warm but the frame could suffer minor damage

Don't get me started about coal fires.......... When I were a lad, not only did me drinking water freeze over on't widow bottom, but my 'ot water bottle were an iron cylinder full of pebbles, warmed up in't coal oven - and we' a sock 'ore it so it dint scorch't sheets. Me granny took a cast iron oven shelf to bed wrapped in a sheet..... We didn't have a fridge - it were a block o' limestone in't pantry........... They were 'ard times. AND I kid you not.........

Did you have to suffer all that dave while having to walk 4 miles up hill both ways to school, in the snow, all year round. With only a wee pet moose ca'd Jeemy to keep you company (scottish folks will get that one :P) Then only gettin' a wash once a year wee the hale famely in a steel tub we' call water? Ach those wir the good al' days! haha

That's pretty much it, olleyjp. Times were hard in the 50's, especially since my dad Sh*gged my mothers teenage cousin, then buggered off with the Hillman Minx. We did have an inside toilet though.

Well on the way back from Bicester my heater knob decided to fall off again.
A quick check showed the "bakerlite" style plastic has cracked. Anyone got any idea who could supply one. It is identical to the one in the pic above.

Can't help with where to source a replacement but on my last car, identical heater knob, as a temporary fix I glued the split and then a tad more glue on the spindle. Five years later it was still working fine so much so that I had forgotten I had repaired it and was only reminded by your post.
