Does anyone know how the soft roof of newest Aero 8 works? I just cannot find any guidance or video about it. Thanks.

If you search through the recent TM posts on the new aero you will find plenty of comments and pictures as it quite a controversial feature.

It is much like a mutant combination of the easy up and traditional, but with two very significant differences.
1. There are side frames that slot into the body immediately behind the door and onto the screen rail. These are body colored and quite substantial. The hood clips to these side rails, making the roof frame far more rigid than on any other Morgan and the windows seat into them like a framed door, reducing wind noise a lot.
2. When folded away it disappears 100% into the space behind the seats and is hidden by the boot clams-shell.
I drove the white and red demmo cars with the roof up and from the inside the rood is tight, there is no movement in the wind and it is much quieter. I think there is also a semi rigid panel in the hood, between the layers, so that the front part cannot flap in the wind, but I'm not 100% certain. In any event the hood is almost drum skin tight.
A proper hard top is an option, but I've not seen it.
All in all more like the hood on a 1970s Merc SL than any previous Morgan, it looks good up, wonderful down and for the winter a hard top is available.
To me this makes it the best of both worlds and if I had the money...which I don't....I'd be thinking very hard.

Thanks Peter. It helps a lot.
About the side frames you mentioned, are they put away when roof is down? You just put them anywhere you fancy?

They stow away in the well behind the seats together with the roof cross bar and hood. The latter is fully detachable from the body.

Overall I think it is an improvement on the easy-up and the previous aero hoods. I'm told it is really waterproof....
