Hello there, I was pointed in "Talk Morgan" direction by the extremely helpful, friendly Brian (Aeroman) after I pestered him via PH for info about his Aeromax and it seems a great resource for owners. Thanks Brian!
Really fallen in love with the Aeromax but being a few sheckles short of buying one right now, decided to buy an Aero 8 in the meantime - maybe become the longtime! Due to take delivery in couple of weeks, once some reg transfer paperwork completed.
In the meantime, have a couple of questions....
Is there a trickle-charger point built into the car? One of my cars has an attachment point under the dash, so extra easy to hook it up if not using the car for 2/3 weeks.
What are the service intervals? The Aero is an S3 #476 (Aug '07/ 1600miles).
Is there any model specific foibles I should look out for?
I would check first to see if you need to trickle charge. I've not had any problems with mine in the 2 years I've owned the car. But others have so it maybe an issue with each car. Can you check with the previous owner?
Regarding servicing its recommended every 6000 miles or annually. At 1600 miles I doubt yours has even been warmed up. I've just sold mine and that was an on a 55 plate and had covered 35,000 miles, so you'll have some catching up to do.
Was worried about flat battery as it may be a few weeks between drives as Aero has to go into storage for little while, while new garage built. Maybe it doesn't have too many things to drain it down though, like a Tracker.

Welcome to Talk morgan Alastair
I trickle charge mine - if left for more than 2-weeks starting it gets iffy. Much of this depends on whether you have an active tracker, passive tracker and how the radio is set up. Obviously these are all drains on the charge and therefore the longer you leave it the lower the battery charge will be.
Reference the service intervals, as Asbo pointed out, the manual states fairly regular servicing. Many have argued that the BMW engine is capable of going much longer without attention; however, the actual reason for the service is to also ensure that the overall structure of the car is still tight and as it should be. A lot of power, in a light car, that is predominantly aluminium, can wreak havoc and therefore all the screws, nuts and bolts are checked to ensure they are tight and nothing is coming loose. A hand built car requires more attention than a mass produced model.
As for "foibles", no. Fist owners usually resolve these, which is a benefit to the second caretaker!
If the previous owner hasn't driven the car in the rain, you may find the hood needs to be adjusted to ensure total weather proofing but I cannot think of anything else that would be a standard "look at this" item.
Servicing all sounds fine then, as I don't mind keeping on top of these things and my local dealer, RPM seem a great bunch of Morgan enthusiasts.
Should add that competing for my attentions while Aero hunting, was a lovely looking S1 (from pics at least) at Thomas & Potter (Scotland), in case anyone searching now also... http://www.morgansinscotland.co.uk/sales_picture4.htm
As Simon, mine have in the past got iffy if left for mroe than a couple of weeks without driving. Not sure if the S4 is the same in that regard but, I just charge it regardless..
Welcome to the forum Alistair, Beautiful Car - enjoy the experience. I cannot imagine leaving it laid up for so long - a car like that needs driving!!! The year is shortening so get to it. life can be all
