All, Yes it's come out a lot better than I thought it would, thanks for the kind comments.
Lowbird, Exbiker, I doubt that you will be able to fit a pre-gdi cover as, from the web I think that the oil filler cap is in a different position. However I don't see why you can't fit a Focus etc gdi cover with some mods. You probably don't realise how much I've cut off the cover I have to make it fit. Also I suspect that, as with the pre-gdi engine the gdi engine will have the "bolts with studs on" holding the cam box down. These studs are used to hold the fixings for the engine cover making the fitting quite easy. I would suggest you need to look at the gdi engine in a Ford car to see just what the differences (in the cam box area) from the Morgan are, if any. Although 2 litre petrol engined cars are not over common in the UK so you'll have to look quite hard.
Cheers John

Nice job John. Now you need to ditch that manifold and get a nice stainless sports manifold Yes but may not approve. To me there's a lot of "morgan tax" in the price of some of these items and I would like to see back to back dyno test showing the improvement. Really I'd like to fit ITB's, as you have done, but I know that's a step too far/ or the start of the slipery slope. Cheers John

Chaps, Just in case you missed the post, Henry Williams told me that they are looking at developing a cam cover for the GDI engine so it would seem help is at hand. I have no idea how much it will cost though, I hope it will be reasonable.

Seeing this thread I chose to renew the NGK plugs on the Duratec 1800cc 4/4 (2008). At 48,745 miles they were quite easy to remove by 16mm long reach socket. Only the plug nearest to the radiator showed any sign of corrosion. The gaps were between 1.5mm and 1.75mm. Noticeable improvement gained to starting which is now instantaneous on turning key. The starting was already good but not this good.
