Hello all
When working in the garage with the ordinary winter job with my 2004 Roadster I was a little bit worried. Just below the door, I found very small,
not bubbles, but something similar, very close to the beading for the front wings. The body is in aluminum, so it can not be rust. But I know that even aluminum can corrode.
This has been on the car since I bought it in UK 2012.
If anyone can give me any advice about how it have occurred and what I should do to prevent it going worse, I will be very greatful.
Cheers,
Ken in Sweden.

Unfortunately Ken it looks like signs of Aluminium corrosion (white rust)

Probably water ingress under the paint at the edge of body to rubber strip. If it was me and I had the paint I would rub back treat it with rust inhibitor and then paint. The continue to get plenty of acf50 along the rubber joint regularly.

Hope this helps a little

Ken, I noticed something similar on my 2003 4/4.
There had always been a small paint run at that place, but it started to develop, into what you describe.

I carefully cut the paint away to find a small area of oxidation.
I then rubbed this down, primed with Isopon Zinc paint, before rubbing down and finally painting.

Because the are was so small, I brush painted the top coat, before polishing, initially using a fine cutting paste.

Best to treat it before it spreads further.

To repair that properly the wing needs to be removed. The cause of the corrosion is coming from underneath the panel.

Ken

I've got the same issue on both my wings and on various other parts as well

mine is a year 2000 car

It is well described on previous posts and very common to all Morgans - water gets under the paint and oxidizes the aluminum causing the paint to bubble

As others have said its really a wings off job to do it properly

in the meantime to hopefully prevent it getting worse keep dribbling or brushing in ACF50 either side of the wing beading

I bought my car 2 years ago with wing paint bubbles and i don't think they have got worse but i will eventually have a wings-off respray of both wings eventually - maybe next year!

A chemical reaction the primer breaks down its a wings off down to the metal and prime followed by your top coat . Had it on mine a good while ago looked like bubbles along the edge of the wing .

Just to endorse ACF50 - a great product!

Used extensively in the Aero industry.

I used it for years on my bikes.

And now on the Morgan - as said - spray down the beading - and wipe off any excess.

Its not cheap! but a little goes a long way - it has very good creep qualities.

I have only ever found it online BTW.

+1 for ACF50 - excellent product.

+ an excuse to mention its use in aviation - the folks maintaining Lancaster NX611 at East Kirby use it - I suspect they buy a bigger size than we do -

I have had a Taxy run in Just Jane!

An amazing experience. I was allowed to sit on the wireless ops seat - where my Dad sat during the war ( in a Lanc not JJ)

I have a great pic on my wall of me hanging out of the Pilots Port cockpit window - thumbs up!

She is an amazing plane and the site is equally outstanding .

Be a good venue for a Mog Run!

We flew in, in my brothers plane - unforgettable!

Highly recommended!!

Thanks for posting Paul!
