Hi all,

Been told by rtcc that Librands are having some supply issues with their short shifter, does anyone know of an alternative? Or does anyone have one spare? It's the gear level arm itself that they are missing.

Thanks,
Nick

My short shift was created by Brian Miller. He basically cut the original gearstick down and fitted a knob that just clamps on with grub screws. Worked really well and never any issues.

Ditto

remove the knob
cut down the shaft
re thread the top of the shaft
Fit replacement S/Steel knob using existing leather cowl

Just remember that once you have cut it down you cannot easily build it up so don't go too short.

Mine is nice with just a wrist flick through the cogs.

Risk is reverse gear so think about it as well before cutting down too short.

My ever patient wife is unable to drive the S2 manual now for a couple of reasons. She is almost unable to push the shortened lever past the reverse detent/gate spring due to the leverage involved. With both hands she can just about do it but given the reach for the fly off handbrake and distance to pedals this could make parking on a sloped car park quite expensive and risky.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, I presume the Librands shifter modifies the fulcrum point as well as a shortened lever, does that yield any particular benefits over just cutting the existing one?

The kit and the cutdown are exactly the same thing. An afternoon in the garage will yeald you the same result as chasing down the un-available kit.

One thing I have not done before is rethread something, is it relatively easy to do?
I might take it to my local dealer for safety sake tho!

No need to re-thread, replacement knobs are secured using grub screws clamping onto the stem.

There are forum threads on here which have more info...

The knob you need this this on:
