Bremont do a stainless steel bracelet- I actually looked at one for the reasons Tim suggests above- but liked one of the leather straps they offered- so form over function this time.

Omega speedmaster for me

Had mine for 35 years and a clean and service every 4 years or so makes it very accurate. Easy to read dial even in very poor light and any scratching on the glass can be polished out with solvite!

what a great post and looking at the responses we are spoilt for choice.

We must therefore have one for each day of the week and some spares too.

My personal choice is Breitling navitimer. But then again I've bought a Sewells submarine service 100 year (No longer made), an AV-8 with matching M3W roundal, and I'm always looking at the autodromo mototipo. Love em all!

Yes I like the black face Milguass

Simple, no date and looks robust - it's certainly on the list

With the huge size of the U-boat watches, I think I would be more worried about scratching the Morgan not the watch

I've only got slim wrists so a 40mm case would be maximum for me plus I'll need to wear it for work

Jaegar lecoultre ultrathin. Mechanical. Very simple face, no date, hard crystal face, so slim it allows access into thin gaps. I've worn mine non stop for ten or 12 years now.

Beautiful watches but probably a bit similar to my Zenith Elite Hand Wound which used to boast the thinnest mechanical movement

My list so far is

The new 2016 Rolex Airking or Exporer 1 (released at Baselworld)
A second hand nearly new black face Rolex Milgauss
A new Tudor Ranger
A new 2016 Black Bay 36 (released at Baselworld)
A Bremont - Solo 37 black dial

The Bremont is slightly winning at the moment due to cost, simplicity and its British
Plus I don't think I would be overly precious about it
A leather strap might also be better as it wouldn't scratch anything
It would be better if it didn't have a date though

Well selling my Rolex on EBay was a bit of a disaster even though I was prepared to rebuff lots of scammers

Today was the last day and I received a high bid this morning from a username with no history ie a big fat (0) after his/her name and when I looked the account had just been set up

I thought I had put controls on who could bid which is usually no one with less than 5 feedback

So I cancelled the bid with the reason 'no history'

Then a second bid came in after that to the same amount £2,700 from another brand new account

So I cancelled that as well

Then I get a message from the next highest bidder who was now the highest bidder at £2,500 saying he suspected I was 'bidding up' to get the price raised and said if won it could I please cancel his order

I replied that I would and he did end up winning it at £2,500

So I messaged him after he had won it asking if I should cancel his order

He replied yes but if I wanted to sell at £2,100 he'd be interested

I politely thanked him for the offer but cancelled the order

So it looks like I might have to keep the Explorer 2 after all

Might investigate getting a dial and hand replacement as its the tritium model with no lume

Ah well

Watch this space

I think the words 'Rolex' and 'eBay' don't sit well for genuine folks..

Sadly (and I know this isn't a reflection on you, Stewart) but they are seen by the 2nd world as a social jewel, and hence very valuable as across the world currency. Most high end watches are, because that's how the manufacturers sell them, and yet all they do is tell the time.

I enjoy good engineering, but they attract the darker side I'm afraid.
