I learned the news this morning while on my way to Edinburgh Airport. Was almost prepared for having my flihgt back home (to Lisbon) delayed or cancelled, but fortunately the european airspace didn't freeze (only the flights to Brussels were cancelled).
Mentioned to my wife "this could've been us" because we had a few days to spare and we hesitated between Scotland and Brussels. Scotland won, but had we chosen Brussels we might be there today, among the dead, wounded or survivors.
I am shocked and saddened at what has happened today in Brussels. I have no doubt the stories of heroism and bravery of those involved, especially those tending the dying and injured, will come out as time passes, and I will be the first to doff my cap to them.
Sadly, it is virtually impossible to secure every single location in the world from this type of attack and atrocity, especially if we wish to exercise our right to freedom, and today's events could have happened just as easily in any one of our own towns and cities. There but for the grace.....
So my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Belgium and all those who have suffered as a result of this mindless attack.

We must not accept that a bunch of stupid fanatics change our European way of live. Stay open minded and do not fall into the trap of narrow minded behaviour as a result of the bombings.

Horrible situation and had the TV on all day watching this dreadful story unfold. I spent a week a month based in Brussels for 7 years whilst working at Volvo Cars Europe headquarters.
These sort of outrages make no sense and I cannot envisage any point of view from which they could make sense.
Those people are living a dream that is everybody else's nightmare.
They have to be stopped, they have to be caught and they have to be made to pay for what they have done. We don't have to try to understand them and we cannot surely forgive them.

I live in Brussels and was due to take the metro to collect my car from Morgan Belgium (who are situated in Molenbeek by the way) this morning.
For no other reason than pure laziness, I decided to put it off until lunchtime. I would have been on the metro at pretty much the time that the bomb went off. Feeling very lucky this evening.
I wonder if the factory has ever asked Morgan Belgium to consider relocating. It was already a dodgy area when I bought my car back in 2012. Now it's internationally infamous. Doesn't feel safe driving an open sports car around that area, I dread having to stop at lights, or getting lost.

I was warned off ever driving through that part of the city as my car had UK plates. The office was close to the Zellik and I thought they were joking, it did not take long to learn they were not. I hope your friends and relatives are all safe.
Regrettably I think we will see more atrocities throughout Europe before they are defeated. When these lunatics are prepared to blow themselves up along with innocent people it must be almost impossible for the security services to prevent. I feel so sorry for the people of Brussels and Paris before that. Such a frightening time we live in.
