So this year (like many before) we've got several European trips organised but the question for three wheelers when driving across Europe is.
what legislation requirements are there for different European countries?
Example from what I've researched the M3W in France is considered to be a motorcycle so the requirements are
A. wearing helmets with reflective stickers fitted.
B. Carrying breathalysers
C. Reflective triangle to be carried within the group
D. Reflective Tabbard to be carried
E. Carrying your licence, insurance and MOT
What others or changes for different countries if any can be brought to the party🤔

I went last year, France, Germany Switzerland and my understanding is that you don't need a helmet (and I didn't wear one most of the time). Saw quite a few police during the trip when not wearing a helmet and they just waved! Probably a good idea to wear one whilst hammering it down the autobahn for a safety point of view.

You do not need a breathalyser. You are legally obliged to carry one but there is no penalty for not carrying one. Yes, really. I am still unsure whether a helmet is legally required in France; I always wore one when I had my 3 Wheeler, mainly because my head was in the airstream even with a Fairbourne screen. Otherwise, you have everything covered except: F. Boosted self-confidence. G. Restricted imagination. Bonne route!

Only one is compulsory seatbelt or helmet.
We must remain smiling and not arrogant.
The police do not really know the rules of M3W.

Here M3W's got bike classification but it is a multi track vehicle too.
Therefore in Austria same highway tolls as for cars are to be payed, not the cheaper bike fees.
No idea on highway tolls in France but you better check.

I know there has been some disagreement on the subject but in Italy both helmet and seatbelts are required. According to the law the "safety capsule" is insufficient to remove the obligation to wear a helmet and, since the vehicle was homologated with seatbelts they must be used.
This is from the importer who has checked with the authorities.

I have driven the M3W in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and Spain and not worn a helmet, not come across any problems with Police who always take an interest in the vehicle.

As its treated as a car in the UK, does that then carry over for use on the Continent, overriding local rules?
