Thought you would be ahead of me...
I do wonder if a flexi neatly welded in completely unhidden will actually just blend in once it has a few hours of high temperature on it? Hidden in plain sight and just express surprise that other people's exhausts didn't come with the "factory fitted" second flexi.

Personally I think those flexi sections look rather good, I see no reason to try and conceal them.

Looks fine to me, maybe the welds could do with a bit more rubbing down, but as you say it's an experiment.
Personally I love discoloured pipes, it shows that the machine has been used properly. If they were all pristine and shiny people might think it's a garage queen.

I suppose with a huge amount of polishing you could get them back to even bright silver all over and then let them discolour evenly...but just getting a few hours of proper running temperature on them should have everything blending in anyway. You do realise you may just have done one of those classic temporary repairs that is still working many years later!

My experience of attempting to polish stainless exhausts has led me to take the view that the effort isn't worth it. Keep them clean but let them discolour gracefully.

Great job Mario, let's hope the factory see your efforts and the penny finally drops with them. I would be more than happy with this solution produced as the Mark IV let's say.

For all that have been showing interest in my "exhaust problems", and especially for all Brooklands Edition owners: Mk IV exhausts have arrived (finally, MkIII's cracked in ... September).
Still with the dealer, still wrapped, no idea what might have changed (if anything) from Mk III spec. Tomorrow they'll be sent to the workshop and I'll get to see them. Will post pictures as soon as possible.
