Just been thinking - where does the rear axle in the trads come from..? Is it a common axle through the engine range?

thinking

I believe it comes from BTR in Australia

The trad axles are basically the same, but with different ratios. All are the same width.

No longer made in Australia, I just can't remember whether it's now India or Malaysia, or somewhere similar.

It's made in Thailand by Spicer Dana. Apart from final drive ratios and/or LSD, the same axle across the Trad range.

Thanks Jays.

I've just been having a butchers at the website here and there's a lot of detail in there, especially if you have a limited slip diff..

Whilst on the subject, the drain plug on mine was made of blancmange and needed replacement.
Replacement was an M12 X 20MM, 1.75 pitch, flange bolt.

I wasn't too impressed. My car had to have a replacement half shaft in the first few weeks because of pitting in the section where it is machined for the oil seal.

When changing quick direction i.e. when leaving a roundabout I hear a loud click from the real axle since my car is new. The dealer said it is quite normal and within the given tolerance. Anyone who shares this experience about rear axle behave?

My car is in for repair at the moment. From new I've had a knocking from the rear nearside which I believed to be bolts hitting the chasis. However it turns out there's something seriouly wrong in the diff or halfshaft and investigations are ongoing. Car is 2 years old. My kindly dealer has loaned me a fiat 500 for the duration......
