I wanted to provide some additional entertainment in my 2011 1.6 Sport and sddidd not want to modify the car. I liked your suggestion of using the Bose speaker system and purchased one myself. I must say I am somewhat suprised at the quality and volume that can be acheived with such a small speaker and I am a bit of a HiFi nerd.

In my case I have fixed the speaker to the transmission tunnel with Velcro which appears to work well well and allows it to be removed for security.

My audio source is my mobile phone which is linked via blue tooth or a cable if I wish to use the radio(with most phones with FM radio the FM won't work at the same time as the bluetooth). I have ordered a case/sleeve for the speaker which has red piping and should match the red dash

Did you fit the Velcro to the rubber pad on the underside of the Soundlnk or take the pad off? Can you still use the cradle for charging or do you have to charge via the micro usb?

Super job Milt

Looks great

I've got a powered subwoofer under a false carpeted panel in the passenger footwell which makes a hell of a difference so I can listen clearly to my two favourite sounds at the same time

I have stuck the velcro to the speaker. I was concerned about the speaker jumping out of the base unit. It is quite heavy and you would not want it flying loose. I have ordered a rubber protective sleeve for the speaker but I wanted one in red to match the dash but that colour is currently out of stock. Depending on how the sleeve fits I might fit the base unit and make a retaining strap for it

Thanks. It fits well but could do with some finishing off so plan to have a small 5mm bead in matching leather around the speaker grill, when the car makes a visit to Williams later this spring for interior leather door trims (or whatever they are called). That way it will fit more securely and not fall though the aperture.

Steve. Yep, sound surprised me too, as did the build quality and battery life. It's a heavy lump.

What's the difference between this and using a GPS navigation app on a mobile phone (in a cradle) - or is that technically an offence also?

Surely you should set your destination whilst stationary. Any subsequent action that distracts you from driving is an offence - like swigging from a can of coke.

Or a cup of coffee? hide

Milt did you consider placing it in the radio aperture. My 2011 4/4 has one with a blanking plate.

Is it located next to the heating outlets?
I was wondering because the size indicates a radio but the location looks awkward to me.
