Been to busy enjoying driving the Mog to bother with the radio until yesterday. As you know it is difficult to reach and impossible to operate whilst moving, so a remote control is essential. I have a Pioneer DEH-X6500dab a good radio but you've guessed it, no remote control available. Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and buy a radio with a remote unless anyone on here has another idea. I was wondering whether there was a set of car steering wheel radio switches available as an unit that I could fit, I know pioneer make small looms for this purpose.
Anyone want to buy a radio???

Peter

Hi Peter

When I had the 4 seater in 08 it came with a Blaupunkt radio CD, I popped the number into eBay and there were remotes for £25.....I bought one and it worked fine, strangely they did not switch the radio on or off but would volume control and more importantly Mute which is what I wanted so I could turn it off blasting mode when coming into toll booths etc. After all that I only really used the radio when parked up or stuck in traffic, it was left in the car when I sold it.

Peter, like John I have a Sony MEX-BT3900U bought cheaply from Halfrauds. It comes with its own remote and has bluetooth, ipod, ipad, usb and various other bells and whistles of which I am ignorant. Very easy to fit. I put all my music on a flash memory stick and use the remote rather than mess around with CDs.
I think I paid about 100 quid at the time.

I have the Alpine radio fitted and obtained a remote control from that well known on-line auction site. It works very well

Hi Colin,
Like you I would probably only use the radio while waiting in a queue or for swmbo . The problem is that the radio I have isn't remote compatible, so looks like the way forward is to change the radio frown

Could you not control the unit with a connected iPod?

The spec suggests that you can control it directly from the iPod - not sure if this means wirelessly via Bluetooth or if it has to be connected via cable.

If it works it might be easier, cheaper and more versatile to use the iPod approach.

When we ordered the car I was assured that the stereo would be a Blaupunkt and that a remote would be available. When it was delivered we discovered that they had fitted the cheapest Alpine system available and naturally no remote was available. I was pretty peed off given the price I was charged was £300 plus VAT for an installed stereo that you could buy anywhere for about £80 VAT included but not installed. I complained bitterly about this and luckily had correspondence on file. Morgan kindly came to the party and supplied a higher level of Alpine with a remote. I noticed that from that point on they at least supplied a remote ready unit but I do not know if that is still the case.

Roof down, urban traffic the radio works perfectly.
In the Plus 8 Radio 2 is easy to listen to up to 50ish, turned up loud it is clear at 70, but people in cars turn and look, so it must be VERY loud....

Alpine CDE 136 BT, 6 speakers, with remote, including off/on, is easy to use. I have an iPod Nano with music on it.
