Matty,

I feel your pain, chum.

You'll know of course, that I sold my M3W last month and the anguish getting rid of it brings. They are very quirky beasts, and they DO get under your skin.

You've enjoyed something that many, many people won't. They either don't 'get it', or they aren't willing to take the risk but you have, so don't feel too hard about moving on.

There is a huge problem with rectifying old issues, and as Dave W said, the factory are on your side, but there is a huge communication problem somewhere.

Mind you, if you think the M3W is the only Morgan to have longer term issues, just read the Aero pages..!!

For me, I moved to four wheels and gained a hood and heater but the driving experience is still fun. Morgan people are fun (in the main..ahem..) and I enjoy the whole ethos thing, but the M3W will always have a special place. Just not in my garage..

Whatever you do Matty, enjoy it. Life's too damn short.

I sympathise Matty having had a similar problem with my +4 but not with the dealer BHM were excellent but as the car is in warranty and it looks like the factory will not pay the dealer takes the rap! This is unfair and unethical problem being if you make too much noise the dealer suffers!

Just curious: was the dealer doing the repair with the factory parts? If so is it not a dealer warranty / education / liability issue?

I'm sorry, but not surprised to hear of your decision Matty. You've done well to hang in as long as you have, I'm afraid I threw in the towel far earlier with the Three Wheeler, and am now on my 2nd PLUS 4, so still staying in the Morgan family, but I am acutely aware of the factory's shortcomings, probably, and charitably, because of too much work and not enough time to deal with problems. It is something that the directors have to get their heads around, if they are to keep their loyal customers.

Let us know how things go and best of luck selling the car. You might like to give Stuart at Krazy Horse a ring, a little birdie tells me he may be on the lookout for s/h Three Wheelers.

I too have heard a similar story. It seems Morgan have suddenly realised that warranty issues are costing them money. Instead of fixing the root cause they are denying warranty claims on any spurious excuse.

Very sad.

Matty. If you love the Morgan experience perhaps you should go to your dealer and take a 4/4 for a test drive. Heaps of fun and swmbo will love it too.

I love the idea of a three wheeler but living where I do it would have to have a Moto Guzzi engine. Those that know who is my other half would also know that she would accept nothing less grin2

I'm sure Alice would be comfortable with a Triking swmbo They are still in production at nearby Hingham, despite the sad loss of Tony Divey the designer/builder a couple of years ago.

Very sorry to here your issues with your M3W Matty. It's another on a growing list and not just M3Ws I've heard about in the last 6 months. I hope you decide to stay owning a Morgan, as others have said a nice 4/4 or Plus 4 would suit you. Personally I think a mid 2000 car with a sensible mileage, and good service history is best option at the moment from a QA view.

Wishing you well with whatever you choose to do. cheers

Sell the M3W before you do the 4/4 test drive! Otherwise: see my avatar...
Most of the early M3W owners will understand your decision. Remember the good times and move onwards. Good luck!
