@ planenut jup, will do with heat resistant tape (3M™ Polyester Tape 8905)
@ hbatts those plates are the stock ones from the factory! they are made of very thin aluminium. so no wonder, the 3 screw holes (exhaust mounts) are getting bigger and bigger with all the vibrations!!! i will change them with stainless steel ones.
ok folks....had a big mechanic-day today. after my big exhaust header crack, the factory sent me (after 12 weeks!!!) a new header. it's a completely new design! the front piece which goes into the cylinder head, is not so short anymore and it's inserted in the header pipe. 6cm deep. the old solution was welded onto the pipe, the new one is inserted in to the pipe. new weld is MIG and not Tig anymore. no way, it can crack again at this point!!! the rest of the header pipe is more or less the same design....length and angles. the pipe walls itself are slightly thicker. 1 or 2 tenth of a millimeter. back on the road since today. we will see......
Thanks for info swissghost and glad your car is back on the road.
Not sure if you can tell from this image of my car completed this week, but if possible could you advise if it appears to have these new construction front pipes?
