I've sprung a petrol leak from the back of my 2000reg 4/4.I've not had chance to examine it properly and would like to think it might be just a hose. In the more likely case that it is the tank itself, how do I go about removing it? I have successfully used one of the liquid sealers on an old Mini and would take this option again, rather than consider a new tank.

I had to remove the tank on my '99 +8 a couple of times due to a leak.....
Gomog suggests that you can remove the boards by unbolting and rotating them. I found that the diff couldn't be raised enough to permit this. I ended cutting them out and fitting a piece of 18mm wbp ply which is wide enough to be removed after slipping back to clear the rear box section. (approx. 50mm wider than he gap between the chassis rails. Hold the tank with a couple of ratchet straps over the rear bulkhead. With practice I can now remove and refit in about 60 mins.

Yup, I followed exactly this process - except that on my first attempt I made the mistake of using 1/2" WBP, which isn't strong enough and bent after a few months, so I went back to proper wood.

I removed the tank of my 1979 +8 yesterday. strangely it was not mounted on wooden planks. It is mounted on two Z shaped metal brackets.They appear to have been there from new. Never seen these on another Morgan. Had to split the nuts to remove it. I think MMC start with tank and then build the car around it. 
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Later cars have a metal cradle with the wood inlaid. It looks as if it will be easier to drop. Later cars? Well my 2012 has this.
