I use Google maps on my android phone. It's pretty good at picking up live traffic delays, and fast to route around them. In the last week I'm being prompted to download my local area map - which will save on data & startup speed. It was the speed to get going, and to correct/reroute my journey that got me to throw away my TomTom about 10 years ago. [& google is free]
Waze has been part of google for maybe 5 years now: I ;like that it shows the cause of delays, and can alert to a police presence on your route. & that the speed limit is prominent. But I stopped using it in favour of Google maps.
If the signal's seriously dodgy, try Here - the maps are downloaded once to your phone. It used to be owned by Nokia, and is now owned by a consortium of car makers. Although, again, like Waze, I find Google maps works so well I've not had cause to use it recently.

I use an app in my iPhone. I changed the head unit in my plus 4 this year for a Sony with remote control and USB. The USB keeps the phone charged and the directions come over the speakers when using navigation, quietening anything you might be listening to. I used it last weekend for the AGM at the factory, it was superb. Cheers Mike

The answer depends on how you intent to use the sat nav.
On the phone I use an app called Here - its free and has total EU maps. But the phone isnt as good as a proper sat nav having a tiny screen and a small speaker and short battery life with gPS running.
For the bike I use a Garmin zumo . Several reasons. Its waterproof. It works by blue tooth as well as speaker. You can edit routes on the PC with a nice big screen and download them which is great if you want to drive some particular scenic twisty road.
If I were buying a Morgan I would use either Garmin or Tomtom and I would use a blue tooth earpiece because you will never hear a phone speaker above the wind and engine noise. And you dont want to be peering at a screen whilst spirited driving.

We both have phones and tablets here but use dedicated Automotive satnavs in all our cars we have tried various apps paid and free on the phones for us dedicated satnavs are the best option, my Garmin has proven particularly robust, has TomTom my Toyota uses a nicely integrated TomTom in its info centre, when my Garmin dies - it will one day no doubt - I'll probably go for the nuvicam model which has the following nüviCam: Guides. Alerts. Assists All-in-one 6.0-inch premium sat nav with built-in dash cam and driver awareness features Detailed maps of Europe with free lifetime1 map updates and digital traffic2, the best traffic avoidance solution available from Garmin Free Garmin DIGITAL Traffic via DAB - Garmin's best traffic solution - out of the box! Integrated dash cam continuously records your drive and automatically saves files on impact Forward Collision Warning3 alerts if you drive too close to the car ahead Lane Departure Warning3 alerts if you drift off the road or into oncoming traffic Garmin Real Vision™ displays camera view when approaching select destinations I don't like cooking my phone being on permanent charge etc

Hi Mike - what model Sony is it? I'm looking to change mine for something with a remote control. If you have the standard Unit that Morgan fit you can get a remote control via eBay

Hi Blackadder, I bought a Sony DXF-A40UI from Halfords, not expensive, but very good compared to the Blaupunkt London unit my car came with. It also has a volume know that turns, so if you aren't using the remote, you can operate by feel. Cheers Mike

Just bought one - just wondering if I need to swap the cages over or if they are universal? My current Alpine requires the IR sensor and then the remote - the Sony works out a lot cheaper than buying both bits.

Easy swap over - better sound and remote! All for £40 as it's on offer at Halfords! really pleased with it. Thanks for the tip Mike.
