nono ooo no, unfortunately it isn´t...

There simply is no chance of the cable-operated "mini-brakepads"-handbrake to hold the car other than in complete standstill.

With my Roadster 3.7 you really have to check that the handbrake has been fully & properly loosened before taking off - the torque simply doesn´t mind it being applied in any considerable way hide

Up to now i didn´t find a proper way to make it work as intended (did they intend it to work (properly) ?)

I apologise , I will speak to the chap who services my Mog and ask him about disc type handbrake pads. Incidently my z4mc which is obviously disc type isn't brilliant , you have to pull the brake handle hard or she rolls !

This is an affliction that occurs on more modern cars too. A colleague recently parked his 65 reg hire car in our car park only for it to roll out of the space an hour later, down the slope and stop against another car. The hand brake was firmly on.

Quite a lot of cars have rear disks for no other reason than the public perception. For a light car, you'll never get rear drums overheated, other than on a race track in a race situation. Even then, it takes a bit of doing.

But these days, the marketing boys and girls see rear drums as a sign of a not so good car, and rear discs as a plus point. Bit like electric handbrakes - a solution searching for a problem.

that reminds me of a nice set of finned "Alfine" alloy rear brake drums i modified for use in one of my previous mogs - but never came round fitting them...

May be i should re-think?!? sherlock

Ive got a Westfield with golf calipers and discs on the back and it locks the wheels easily so there shouldn't be a problem but I will tell you tomorrow when I pick my ARP4 up.
