I have an S1 Roadster the same age as yours and I am very happy with the handbrake. Is yours the same?

Is there any setup on these style of disc brakes regarding the parking brake function?
On my smart drums (yes I know not the same) to adjust the parking brake so that it works after the brakes have been removed etc I have to actuate the parking brake handle 40+ times to allow the cable adjuster in the handbrake handle assembly to take up the slack in the system.

I was just watching Wheeler Dealers where they did up an Alfasud. It has the handbrake activating the FRONT disc brakes. There is a cam operated lever operated by the handbrake cable that pushes the pads onto the disc, with a 0.1mm clearance from the lever to the pad. 1970's design! So.....no excuses for not knowing about the issues and a simple solution applied to the rear discs. Come on Morgan! Send for Ed China.

My 1973 Citroen Ami 8 had a cable operated handbrake which operated it's own (old penny sized) pads on the front inboard discs, probably the most effective handbrake ever alongside Land Rovers.
Sometimes we are so busy leaping ahead we forget the better designs of the past.

Once upon a time I had an Alfasud. I left it parked on the drive at my parents with the handbrake on (front wheels as mentioned by sospan. Unfortunately, the drive was on a slope - I didn't leave the car in gear.
Someone knocked at the door during the middle of lunch... ...the car had slowly drifted backwards, and was blocking the road! Good job it was only an estate road, and the car did not travel onwards into the opposing neighbours drive and car.
