Simon, some sound advice. I did about 18k in my series 2 with only minor niggles.
The problem for me with using the aero as a daily drive would be what to do when you've had a s**t day in the office. For me jumping out of a eurobox and into the aero seems to improve the day considerably.
Driving all day every day wouldn't have the same effect.

Asbo,
My feelings were a variation on the same theme.Like the majority of us, I use my Eurobox for daily motoring and the idea of having a EuroTRIP once or twice a month in an Aero or similar seemed good therapy
Good to hear so many positive commnets.
Cheers

I do drive my Aero to the office and Asbo, you're right about it being the silver lining on an otherwise frustrating day! I would also be happy to, (and will when the weather improves!), take mine on one of my longer work trips (1,000-miles, over 2-days, in Europe); however, would never relegate the car to daily driver use. I hope that makes sense. The point I was trying to make (need more ) is that my choice not to is based on personal choice regarding use of the car, not reliability. I like knowing I have a daily-hack for days when I don't want to worry about: - Where I can park without having some numpty put a dent in one of the cars panels. Cringing when a rock hits the front and then spending another 200-miles+ wondering what damage I'll see when I get out. Having to consider weather conditions! For instance, the Aero was spinning its rear wheels from a stop on Saturday (the roads were damp) and nice and playful on roundabouts; where as, my daily hack provides completely predictable and anaesthetised driving. While I enjoy the tactility of my Morgan when I'm driving for pleasure, it does require more concentration than a standard car in tricky weather. They aren't a lairy handful but they do require a more concentration than a standard car with all the 'driver aids'. ...I'm sure there are other things I consider but that is a good start! Now, where are the rest with their opinions? Aeroman? Boshly? Shooter?

Simon, Re reliability, you might like this bit of info:
Never had any probs with the 4/4 and have taken it all over GB and a fair bit to Europe in the three years since I've had it
My 'luck' changed when we went to the 24hrs in June. The journey back was an absolute nightmare, car in get you home mode one minute then OK then back to pain in the b*m mode. It was only via some 'telephone tutorials' by Mike Duncan that I managed to drive it home rather than have it trailored.
I think I mentioned this trouble in an earlier post about MAF sensors/ water ingress onto the plugs etc but what I didn't say then was we finally discovered what had messed up the sensor: a mouse had crawled into the induction pipe and chewed my air filter!
( We were staying at the Arbor and as many people will know, it is a fairly wooded, rural setting- hence the mouse- field we guess)
Truth is, after all, stranger than fiction!
Regards

Really help I got from the Morgan-Dealer Gregor Flaving and Peter Beckert. They handle me like their own customer but unfortunately the fault comes again and again and I have reached the point of no confidence in the car.
Edi, I hope you do not mind; however, I have spoken with the factory today reference your car. I explained your issues and the frustration you are feeling and they are now in contact with Mr. Flaving. They have assured me that they will do their utmost to resolve any issues you are having with your car. The people at the factory are passionate about Morgans and are some of the most reasonable people I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I am sure they will do everything in their power to restore your faith - and enjoyment of! - your Aero 8. If you have any further concerns, or questions, please feel free to post here or contact me directly via e-mail or private message on the site. Best regards Simon

Simon,
thank you for your intervention.
I know that the people at the factory are very passionate, I am with Morgans over 30 years but it is a great difference if I own a traditional, Aero S1 or the latest Aero S4 with an electronic bus system. I own a Plus 8 too and never had problems like my Aero. The technology is now very complexly and I know a lot of Aero owner with problems. Shooter, Oliver, Robert – all refer here on talkmorgan about problems with their S4.
I am the editor of the german clubmagazine Morgan-Post and for that reason I have a lot of contacts with areo driving german clubmembers. There is no one without problems. The problems are different but the S4 have many electrical faults.
As previously said, I own the aero 6 month, 2 of them I could not drive because it was faulty and one month I was in Canada but in the remaining term I drove 10K Km. It is more than the most aero owner do and the car makes a lot of fun and I wouldn’t miss the car. Nevertheless, the problem is the instability and the lack of confidence.
Regards Edi

Edi ... sounds not good ! I hope the factory solves your problems in a short term. Please let us know. I appreciate your technological knowledge, your structured proceeding and .... I´m a real Morgan-Post fan since you are the editor. My experience with the factory was not very helpful. Obviously the distance is the problem. The dealers are´nt in an enviable position. Five days ago I was driving a Wiesmann MF 4 GT,also BMW 4,8 L engined. The result : Stunning and a perfect acceleration from 0 - 290 km/h (was not the end). My Aero S4 speeds up like the first Porsche Turbo and top speed ends at(closed and open) 240 km/h. No solution from the dealer, no solution from the factory. Now I will organize a winter BMW - Munich stop to find a solution. The factory should optimize their international support. The Aero & Aeromax family (in Germany) is growing . May be faster as the support. _____________________________________ Oliver

When I met up with Aeroman, he was on the last leg of his European jaunt. I am not sure how many miles he did but it was probably at least 3,000. As far as I am aware, he did not have any problems. As Simon says, we have just done circa 5,000 km's round France and had no problems whatsoever; apart from damage to the drivers mirror perpetrated by a flying stone thrown up by a truck. This brings the total mileage (km-eage!) on our 'Max to 32,000 km's and the car has been totally reliable in our stewardship. I'm really sorry to hear of your issues Edi, particularily as my S3 was also electronically totally reliable, once I had sorted out the usual minor 'bedding-in' problems that most new Mog's seem to have in my experience. In my opinion, the Aero 8/Aeromax is very reliable; however, you do need to get past the initial 'shake-down' issues which may be present in a new-build Morgan. Once they are resolved, they seem to be relatively bullet proof (certainly no worse than many modern mainstream cars).
There are some people on the site who have done a lot of miles in their Aeros (Aeroman, Boshly and Shooter spring to mind). If I am not mistaken, Shooter drove his daily for 12+ months (and in all the weather the UK could throw at it). In our first three Aero's we did some 45,000 miles and we have not (touch wood!) had the sort of electrical glitches that some members seem to have experienced. Our AeroMax, being a works prototype had some 12,000 miles on the clock when we bought it, but we have put some 8,000 miles on it in 10-months and it has been totally reliable during that time. As with many handmade items, there can be human error in the initial build; however, as said above, the break-in service is used to resolve a lot of these (if not all). Our Series I had many minor problems which were rectified by the works under warranty, including a completely new hood, amongst other issues. We had some minor problems with the engine management becoming 'confused' when the engine became very hot, but once we found out how to re-boot the chip (thank you the Morgan Dealer in Chicago ) that issue was solved. The next two Aero's proved much better finished in general and to reiterate we did not have electronic problems with either. I am really sorry to hear of your issues Edi and all I can say is that I hope that they are promptly resolved, but please whatever happens do presevere with getting them sorted, as I know that the ultimate driving and ownership experience will prove worthwhile and the pain will very shortly be forgotten. Good luck and as Simon says, if any of us can help in any way please do not hesitate to contact us (SGT are just up the road from our UK house). Brian

Well, I have to respectfully disagree with everyone else about the Aero as a daily driver.
I have had my current Aero for 9 months and drove my previous Aero for 13 months and have done 44,000 miles (about 72,000kms)with both.
My longest drive was last month, driving to the Algarve for the GT3 and then to the south of france for the Aero meet and back home over a 10 day period.
For me, the magic of driving the Aero doesn't wear off. Admittedly, I no longer worry about stone chips or kerbing the nearside front alloy (it's only £50 for a refurb!)but I spend a lot of time in the car and it doesn't matter what the non car time has been like, getting in the Aero is always an attitude adjuster for the better.
Faults, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention......
Actually, both Aero's suffered from water getting in. The S4 was worse, then it was almost totally fixed, jut a tiny bit getting in at the back end of the doors, roof perfect, both hard and soft top. An experimental fix for the back end of the doors has just been tried but actually hasn't been effective, probably exacerbated things but it will be fixed.
Electrical glitches, mine have all been down to water getting in.
Perhaps if the early Aero pioneers were daily drivers, more of these glitches would have arisen and been sorted. I'm getting all mine worked through as the car is used every day and isn't garaged so it gets full exposure to all the English weather can throw at it.
