I picked up my super ARP4 yesterday and love the car so far .Having spoken to the dealer re hand brake problems they double checked all was OK. This morning I took it to my local MOT test station as I was not happy with IT at all. The Hand brake efficiency was 9% !!!!!!! single line brakes should be 26% for MOT pass... So a miserable failure. Shocking....It will not hold on the slightest gradient.

It should never have left the factory like that, even if it did the dealer ought to have sorted it out before delivery.

Agree that MMC should not have produced a car with a defective handbrake but if the engineering is defective surely the only thing the dealer could have done is sent it back to "the factory" as "Not fit for purpose". I can't see where a dealer is expected to rectify what appears to be a design issue rather than one of simply adjusting something correctly.

The dealer is in no way to blame . Having had the car on a ramp this morning there is nothing that can be done to improve the hand brake in its present configuration. Poor design. The Factory need to come up with a fix and quick before a car rolls back and causes an accident.

"before a car rolls back and causes an accident"
I think we are making a bigger issue out of this than is necesary. As experienced drivers, knowing the handbrake doesn't work, we will always leave it in gear, and the technique which does work is, before applying the handbrake hold the footbrake down and then pull up the handbrake.
No it's not right, and Morgan or one of us [Simon from Mulfab?] will have to redesign the thing, in the meantime, go and put some miles on the car, I promise it gets better.

Hello peter, i just checked and myn is also not so good , but i will make it ok. I will start with removing the leather around the handbrake. I noticed from in octber on the demo AR that it was in actually to small and strech maximum , even before handbrake is doing his job. When i pull more than that , handbrake IS working . going to remove now . Let you now , we will fix

No doubt there will be an "Aero Racing ARP4 hand brake performance kit" which all of the 50 lucky ARP4 owners can purchase in the near future.

But how does one control it on a hill start?
