Nick I had a similar experience with another 'famous' dealer on this site. I went to a garage in High Wycombe to fix a small problem. They are not a dealer but have quite a big Morgan following. The service there was outstanding and I will be going there next month for the service.

If it's any consolation at all, I bought a brand new Murcielago, the dealer crashed it while he had it, badly resprayed it and lied about the whole thing. This is London's main dealer by the way who also sell Rolls Royce. I had to take them to court and they settled just before.
That aside, I'm very surprised to hear about an established Morgan dealer behaving in a lacklustre way - they are normally real enthusiasts.

The thing to bear in mind I think is that none of your woes were the car's fault, it just wasn't used and loved enough before it came to you.
Now it's all sorted and ready to go, and you can start to build your relationship with it. The great thing about Morgans is that is you don't want to do the maintenance work yourself, there are lots of excellent people out there who will give it the care it deserves.

One must never forget that automobile dealers are the 21st Century manifestation of horse traders.
These people are what they are.
Find a good honest and reliable one and be happy, it is like winning the lottery...

Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement everyone, it does rather put things into perspective. I must admit I took her out for a drive and my smile has returned.. Which is nice. The mileometer stopped displaying and is flickering but if it's not too expensive I think I will fix it myself.

That's great news the love affair has begun My digital odometer reads when it feels like it, mostly in dry weather and any dampness around it occasionally looks like it's on acid or doesn't read at all. It's a VDO speedo (analogue) odometer/trip (digital) combined I'm not sure what instruments the Aero has.

Nick,
I would urge you to stay with RT I worked there for a decade, I built all the race cars, including the Aero Everyone has off days, but they do know their stuff (and if not, they ring me...) A car returned dirty isn't acceptable, so ask for a full valet FOC next time The valeter they use is outstanding, however he is only in on a Friday, so arrange accordingly
Most importantly..enjoy the ride..an Aero 1 is something special

RT lost my S1 Aero fully stamped service book, presumably that will knock hundreds off the resale value of the car. They then charged me for a new one, unstamped of course.

The mileometer stopped displaying and is flickering but if it's not too expensive I think I will fix it myself. Good to hear a drive in the Aero brought a smile back. Remember these cars are quite special and getting on for 14-16 years old, mine is relatively low mileage 17.5k and only 2 previous owners, the history shows 1k a year with the odd year of 2-3k. How anyone owns such a car and resist driving that little I don't know. Can't see the point. Mines been well maintained but still needed a few things sorted as I put in my other recent post. I expect that I will get the occasional issue/niggle on the way, but hopefully only now and again. In reality very fees cars don't need stuff sorting as we put miles on them. Cars left standing can be worse, tyres ca flat spot joints and bushes can rust/oval over a long time, rubbers harden and fail, and so on, I always aim for at least 3-4K a year and change all oils every 5-6k miles. This seems to do the trick and keeps it all running nicely. Have fun and be careful with the right foot
