Hope you guys are going to be patient with all my "newbie" questions......

Seats. I guess they are fixed back and not adjustable for rake?

Wheels. Is there a wheel removal tool available? My socket set just won't cut it!

Dash. Can anyone scan me a copy of the S1 owners manual page on the dash so I can see what everything does ( will be looking to purchase an owners manual)

The car originally came with a massive socket for the single centre nut with two holes through it for a long bar, once tightened there is a safety grub screw which is Allen key. Also there should be a long shiny silver bar across the rear of the boot in clips for the socket. I have been warned the nuts are very difficult to undo and torque up, I need to check what the torque is, maybe someone else can advise.

If you take them off then when put back on you are meant to torque up, take the car for a short drive then recheck check the torque and then fit the grub screw torqued to 20Nm.

14 .75 foot lb for a grub screw ?
How big is it, that would surely just strip out the hole or round off the key?

If I recall to torque them correctly will bend the car in the boot, so its pretty useless!

The VITAL information you need on securing your wheels is the grub screw must not only go into its' hole but that it goes all the way into the SLOT. Torque alone will not hold your wheel on, the grub screw will, but ONLY IF IT IS IN THE SLOT. There are no shortage of wheels coming off stories. The grub screw and slot were the factories fix for the problem back in the day. It is well worth looking at exactly how the grub screw and slot works, and knowing how deep the screw goes in when in the slot. Tipex is useful for this.
Incidently about 4 years ago I bought a new wheel brace from Richard Thorne, so maybe still available. Needless to say the trad wheel brace does not fit.

In your boot on the near side should be a jack in the recess, and if like mine a 2nd recess to house the socket and Allen key. Top tip here, the recesses are open into the wings so dirt comes in, so block these up with the Jack and sockets wrapped up in cloths/bubble wrap.

The bar was secured in the boot along the rear edge with pipe clips.

I know it is often mentioned on here that you can bend the bar doing up the nuts, but I have not had any issues. The grub screw location is a serious point that can not be made strong enough.

"....reading the post from Taffy has jogged my memory for something I meant to acquire a while back.It is a bespoke wheel nut tool that fits the OZ wheel perfectly and has a 38mm socket on the end so you can use a socket and long breaker bar and/or torque wrench.

It might be a useful idea if your original socket is missing.I haven't received the tool yet,but will report back when I do.....

Simon, it is possible to slightly alter the rake, and a slight degree change is generally all that may be required to suit.

My previous S3 was very upright so had it raked back a few degrees by local Morgan dealer. Can't recall the exact procedure or if shims may have been required as it was 8 years ago.

Conversely, my 'Max is slightly over reclined and may make slightly more upright in future.

Interesting comment on seat rake adjustment, or lack of it, on the S1s.

Later Aeros, Certainly S4, but possibly earlier, have a small amount of adjustment on the seat back. There is a lever on the front right of the driver's seat.

Do S4 seats fit the S1, or are they narrower? If later seats fit thsat would be a good, if expensive, answer...
