I see Steve Simmonds is listing a cranked wheel spanner in his new products section. Looks a bit pricey at £50, but certainly more portable than Phil Ledgerwood's piece of engineering.

anyone tried the plywood tool for spinners? seen them at AH Spares, the Healey specialist, think they retail for £15, can't find a pic on web though

The advice I had from an MG fanatic friend was that the plywood "spanners" are essentially sacrificial and likely to splinter when you most need them. Also they can be hard to hit if you have wider wheels, because they end up inside the rim.
