1st service today at 732 miles at BHM.

Engine oil and filter, gearbox oil and transaxle oil (last 2 not "necessary" but recommended, so went for it) all changed.

Transaxle oil that came out had silverish traces (similar effect to when you pour milk into coffee) in the oil .. so was pleased we changed it. Also lots of nut and bolt checking and tightening. Gearbox oil was surprisingly black.

We only managed to put in 4.7 or so litres of oil, no where near the 6 litres stated by factory. All oil should have drained out as oil tank drain hole is the lowest point of the engine. However, the hole is at the side of the tank and not the bottom which may mean around 1 or 2cm of oil not draining.

ECU was flashed with new settings so that car can pass MOT emissions test .. it did not; we tried twice, 2nd time when car was warm/hot. Luckily, I have 34 months to go before 1st MOT!

I wonder whether the car needs some mileage under its new ECU settings.

Meanwhile, some bling added to engine compartment. Not a simple in and out job. The bracket at the back of the tank (parallel to bulkhead) had to be taken out and bent to fit into the shiny tank's bracket. Apologies for the rubbish description, I am no mechanic.

sounds fun, but I think it clashes with existing plans.

Did 290 miles today, met Robbie and his mate at the Ferrycraig Hotel in Wexford.

Am knackered, and have a pain in my left knee.

Got it to around 6300rpm in 2nd and the shift light came on smile

Out in Ireland on the Ring of Kerry; 280 miles today.

very bumpy roads, but it's been a lot of fun, and very tiring.

now at 1350 miles, and the engine is really coming on beautifully. it feels unleashed and the power and noise from 3000 rpm to 6500rpm and beyond is just fantastic ... it is responsive, fun and plenty of thrust. The engine really is a peach ... with revs, it is plenty quick and grunty.

I love it, I love the car and I am getting to know its quirks and foibles. There is so much going on bumpy roads and cornering on bumpy roads (and rain too), it is a full on, pay 100% attention, keeps all your wits about you experience. Fantastic.

Today, no leaks in the usual places (rain was not horizontal for a change!), but my left ankle got a few drops!

It squeaks and moves around, the steering seems to have a mind of its own and it sometimes feels belligerent ... but, flow with it, don't fight, constantly adjust your steering wheel grip, play with the throttle, feel the lean, use the weight transfer for grip, and somehow, it becomes an athlete sprinting to glory.

I have never been so tired after driving a car .. it's a workout for your shoulders, arms and legs. And brain!

Blimey....
Somebody finally got Morgan...
Its not a Modern car, its not even a 50's car, it's an anachronism, It bounces, it shudders, it does it's own thing....
It leaks, it rattles
Frankly it's bloody awful

but it makes you smile
It makes you smile a lot
From ear to ear

Bloody things....
