I have thought for a little while that it would be fun to sound out the denizens of this august forum regarding their favourite motoring books. I'm hoping to pick a few suggestions for good reads before the inevitable "haddock and prawn" capers take over the thread (guilty parties - you KNOW who you are!).
So, I'd like to kick off with "Touch Wood" by Duncan Hamilton - a wonderful raconteur and bon vivant, who drove for top teams through the golden age of C type and D type Jaguars.

Mine would be "No Time To Lose" by Alan Peck. The story of a very special person, Bill Ivy. Anyone who can lap the IoM TT circuit at 100mph+ in 1968 on a 125cc motorcycle is, IMHO a giant of a man. All 5ft 3in of him.......Brilliant!
He was also a man of the people, when he won "King of Brands" he did a victory lap and stopped so many times to shake hands with the fans that the organisers had to "call him in"....Fantastic

I don't read many 'books' but Filby's TVR against the odds is a good read.

In 1965 for my birthday my Aunt bought for me "The Observers Book of Motor Cars" which catalogued alphabetically by make most of the cars that were in manufacture in the world during that issue. When I got to letter "M" I was transfixed by Morgan's that were shown and since that day I have had an unending passion for Morgan's. Now I am proud to be an owner of a Morgan and that book still holds pride of place on my bookshelf.

It featured Scotts ..I was besotted and many years later had three! I also rode from Coventry to Brighton on the VMCC run on a 1919 Scott ..oldest bike on the run X far. That was quite some adventure and I am not ashamed to tell you that I rode down the Parade in Brighton in tears....of pride and joy!
