Ok, to qualify my 2p's worth, I have done approximately 40,000km in my S2 and have just returned from a 3200km trip in an S4. The only problem that affected the cars ability to transport me in comfort and ste was a chaffed (sp?) water hose that dumped the coolant on my S2. Not bad I would suggest. I guess to re-iterate these cars getmore and more reliable as the miles are put on them. They will nevevr be 100% as most cars aren't. You only need to read about some of the problems encountered by many Ferrari, Lambo Aston and even Porsche owners. A friend of mine took a DB7 to Le Mans and came home in 'safe mode' dumped it for a 360spider the next year and virtually exactly the same thing happened (though when it warmed up only-thus many stops). Not commonplace, but happens. I'm guess I'm not really saying much but just adding a bit more perspective. And yes I am aware that Ortho has had some issues and that another Aero I am aware of also did, but I repeat I'm sure miles will resolve these. Good luck on solving your gremlins Edi and GLLHG (hope I've got that right - all those consonants not even Carol V could do anything with those ) the question of whether you could use an Aero as an 'everyday' for continental trips is a no brained for me. I have done four trips to St Tropez, one to Switzerland and Austria, one to Spa and The Rabbit Run (Inc the Nordschleif) with no trouble. It's what they're built for. As for living with the car every day at work. You pays your money.... Hope that helps.
Cheers

Hi all,
a short information about the progress of my aero. Flaving has read out the OBD-Diagnostic and it seems as it is the same fault like two month before. The Diagnostic says it is the accelerator pedal and yesterday the motor runs but during the test drive in the kick down-position the fault comes again.
Oh, I have forgotten to say it is an autobox-aero and this means, the source of electronic trouble is much higher than the manual one.
Flaving is in connection with Mark Baldwin and together they will attempt a lot of possibilities to cure the fault.
After all every Aero is a prototype and there is a lot of trial and error. I am in confident hope that the Aero in a short time runs again but what comes next?
Regards Edi

The problem as I see it that these 'little' gremlins have a disproportionate effect as my waterlogged 'black box' meant having to wait several hours to get recovered :witch: and the car is still u/s! Exhaust brackets - need a coathanger Electronics - need a laboratory!
New joints for old!

Hi all,
I hope this is my final statement.
I got just a call from Flaving's head technician Erich Hornburg that the car runs in a test drive very well, no faults in the diagnostic tool and I can pick up the Aero tomorrow.
Today they research into the problem and they find out that the connection from throttle to the air mass control the reason was. Great Events often come from little causes.
Erich gives me a hint if anytime the same problem comes again: cut the electrical connection from the air mass controller, the car comes in a run flat system and you can drive slow home. No trailer is necessary.
Thank you all for the moral support, the offered help and special thanks to Oliver because he coming out as a fan from the “Morgan-Post” ;-)
Regards Edi

Hi all,
my last posting was a little bit early.
I picked up my Aero Wednesday last week from the garage and the car runs fine. Next day I want to drive to the annual Morgan-Meeting in Bavaria but I couldn’t because the Aero has the same fault again. I can’t open the throttle, the motor was only idle running and so I took my Plus 8 (runs always without problems) to go to the meeting.
Flaving and Mark Baldwin are in discussion now for a solution.
Today morning back from the meeting I had done a reset of the blackbox and oh wonder, the throttle opened and the motor runs.
Next week I will bring the car to Flaving in the hope, they can cure the fault finally.
Edi

Edi, by the above comment, do you mean that you are resetting the main ECU by using the main fuse reset under the bonnet, leaving the car for 5-minutes, resetting the fuse and then starting the car with the key?
