Just had renewal quote for +4 from Headley, a shade over £500. Got a quote from G & W which was just slightly less. Ended up with LV and saved myself over £300! It pays to shop around.

Indeed Sir P. It also pays to go back to your current provider with your best quote. Did with mine and they matched it so no need to move, which I really didn't want to do.
All part of a game eh..

Be careful Sir P., a friend had a nearly new tin top insured with LV that was unfortunately written off in an accident, definitely not of his fault. They took nearly 3 months to pay out after much wrangling over value, and if it had not been for the separate GAP insurance my friend would have been £12k out of pocket.

One of the reasons I chose LV was 3 years ago I had a MX5 insured with them that got written off. They could not have been better to deal with, sorting everything out in no time and a cheque for the agreed amount arrived within 2 weeks. Another plus point is that they do not hike their premiums every year like some!

Be careful, just spotted this on the MG owners newsletter:

Warning: I have an agreed value classic car insurance through MGOC and when my renewal came, £3 less than last year!, I didn’t just renew it but actually read the small print. For some unexplained reason they had removed the breakdown cover and removed the agreed value cover, even though they had issued a valuation certificate until 1/6/17.

These insurance companies look for any alteration to hike the price up. I had my renewal from Carol Nash for my collection of classic bikes at £345 which had been increased from last years amount. When I queried the price I was asked if my circumstances had changed and I stated that I had just taken early retirement from the Civil Service and was then told that my policy would be increased to £495 because I have more time to ride the bikes? I strongly questioned this amount, shopped around, and got the price back to £345. It's one big cartel and a rip off.
Happy days! P.

Got to say that retirement and more time to use the bikes strikes me as a very sensible reason for a premium increase!

Where are you by the way? I live in Usk so cant be far away
