seems like it would make for a mess as its basically acting as a scoop in this fashion without anyway to stop random debris from entering. You should consider a metal mesh for the intake at the least.
Be nice if there was some way to force induction without a downward scoop.

I agree with the comments of Laurens regarding MMC and Quaife.
If some are silent, they can all be silent. It's just a lack of care from Quaife in the machining and building.

...but my Stage 1 exhausts are....101dB on Saturday....was under 90dB a few weeks ago at Loton Park Strewth, that's quite a difference - any idea why? I'm booked in for a 98dB day at Goodwood so hopefully mine will pass OK.

Another 5 responses – thank you all. We now have 19 noisy and 16 quiet. 9 of the noisy and 8 of the quiet have the NVH so that doesn’t seem to be a cure on it’s own Of the 2013 or earlier we have 15 noisy, 6 quiet whereas for the 2014 or later it’s 4 noisy and 7 quiet – so maybe continuing the trend for 2014 onwards being more likely to be quiet? Could those of you with Redline and Lodexol let us know the SAE you used if you have it? There are 2 quiet running on SAE 140 so it might be a fixed, high viscosity oil is the way to go (or not!).

You simply cannot compare noise test results Chris - they're just so dependent upon so many factors, including angle and distance of measurement, revs, surroundings, weather and many other aspects. I can't remember if you have MMC Stage-1 or G56, but if the latter, then I got through a Goodwood 98dB limit day last year without problems with G56 and they are more notorious than most for being Noise Grumps. They measured both sides and in truth I suspect at little more that 3750rpm or thereabouts. Passed all the same though! My car on the stock pipes measured 104dB at Brands and 99dB at Castle Combe within days of eachother and when you consider that +/-3dB represents a doubling of sound pressure/volume, that's clearly wrong.

Thanks Phil,
I'm on MMC Stage 1 so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.
As I recall my stock pipes were about 96dB at Goodwood although it was under one of the paddock canopies at the time. It was under the limit so I didn't worry about it at the time.

Chris the Redline oil I use is Heavy Shockproof, the marketing blurb states it is as:
This unique product has the film thickness greater than that of a 75W250 oil yet has the low fluidity of a 75W90 oil.

Dear all, Below my email which I just send to Qauife Lets hope that we will get a reply which could help us. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Catterall, Shortly after your answer on my email someone started via the Morgan 3 Wheeler forum on internet a survey about the noise of the Qauife bevel boxes fitted in the Morgan 3 Wheeler In your previous email you wrote to me that in your findings that it was rare that a single bevel box had the problem as I described. But as you could see in the survey below more as 60% giving this annoying problems If your interested in this survey we kindly ask to read it yourself http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/364523/1I hope you understand that you would do us ALL a big pleasure to find a solution for this problem. As I wrote you before many of us are willing to pay for a kind of rebuild/upgrade When I see that 40% of your bevel boxes are quiet it must be doable to make 100% quiet. Looking forward to your answer Best regards Laurens Vos
