Just spent about two hours detailing the front wheels. Now I know these are 48 spoke wheels. Gotta small rag around every nipple (the car) soaked in mineral spirits. This was the first time in her 1,800 miles so I expect to only do it THIS fastidiously every 2,000 or so. Then I lifted her up one wheel atta time and actually cleaned off her aluminum belly pans.
Where are you at? Put her away wet, keep her better than when she left Malvern? Or something in between?

I'm at the OCD end of the spectrum. As near to showroom as possible without messing with the patina.

Driving is much more fun than cleaning. I'm not afraid to take it out if it may get wet & if it does let it dry naturally. ACF50 is grand stuff, I use it on the engine & front end every other wash with a hose at mains water pressure including underside. Tim

I have to claim middle ground here. I bought it to use for touring like we used the BMW. The bike is clean but shows 128,000 miles of use. The Morgan has over 19,000 miles on it now and has been soaked several times. I will keep it "clean and shiny" but you probably won't find me spending time cleaning every nook and cranny with Q-tips.

I don't take mine out in foul weather - so it stays relatively clean.... actually I keep it very clean.
As I get older I don't have the energy to clean cars as I used to. I was a Zymol addict with my Astons. Crazy really - I spent hours on them.

Yes she must run good and look the part as-well. 😉 I must always wipe her down after the day out.

Good topic. The way I see it, you can't fully enjoy any car if you're concerned about it getting dirty. On the other hand, getting them infamously dirty once in a while serves as a great pretext to go all-way-OCD on the cleaning.
Plus, I only really enjoy seeing cars either very clean or very road dirty.
I remember with great pleasure the time spent detailing motorcycles, a few years ago, after arriving home from +2 week road trips. On a Lisbon-Nordkapp and back trip, once, I think I washed off road kill of 7 different nationalities.
