I over filled mine once, it somehow fouls up the emissions system and gave me an engine check light and rough running for several hundred miles before it cleared itself. I now adhere to the "3 click" rule at the pump. Once the pump nozzle has clicked off for the third time, it is full!!

Why three? When mine clicks off, on a slow fill, it's finished.

I once had a pump fail to click off on slow fill and I had gas all over. Long lasting paranoia so 3 clicks!!

Wary of the engine management issues and recommendation in manual, I initially started filling car to first click off on full flow. With the 280mm sender I consistently got a gauge reading of only 77% full though.

I then followed up subsequent fills with a few seconds wait then a slow to fast fill until second click off, adding several more litres. This leaves gauge showing 100% which doesn't drop for at least 10 miles of driving.

3 clicks and it doesn't drop for around 40 miles with the 280 mm sender. This has worked for over 15k miles now.

Yes that's the vent to the charcoal can breather which I believe absorbs petrol fumes - probably not very well when neat fuel is dripping from it though innocent

Digressing a little, i realise this has probably been discussed before but is there any way that the fuel guages can be modified to get a degree of accuracy, i note there are different senders been discussed, can these be fitted under warranty? I picked my car up after servicing it was showing 77% stood on a flat surface within 15-20 miles it was dipping in and out around 40% by the time i got back, a total of 69 miles, it was showing 0%. Is this common and acceptable.

I spoke to Mark Cerrone about this during the build of my car and even offered him the replacement 280mm long VDO sensor to fit but he was reluctant to change the standard 250mm one. As an aside the manual would have to be re-written as it states that 3 gallons of fuel remain when gauge reads 0%!

I very much doubt you would effect a warranty claim therefore although Mark did note the part number of my replacement, so maybe in the future......

I have fitted the longer sender myself (straight swap) which gives a greater range of readings and a more sensible gallon and a half remaining at 0%. You can obtain a 280mm one here.

Its running again!!

The symthoms is just as described from some of you. So I have forced it out on the roads and now the engine seems to run fine.

Thank you very much! It great to have you here!!!
