Hi

I want a flexible hose to replace the solid rubber one (1.5 inch I.D.), to stop the radiator outlet cracking under stress.
I'd like a straight hose that can absorb vibration, Gates Vulcoflex (American's would call it hump hose) looks suitable, but can't find anywhere to buy it.

Also considering an electric water pump, as we are signed up for a 1,000mile regularity rally this summer.

Any advice appreciated.

I carry a length of this as a spare.

But, I was advised (Morganatica) against the ones with metal re-inforcement, but do you find it does the trick?

I would go for a silicone convoluted hose, they are much more flexible than the standard hoses.

In my 4/4 I have the metal reinforced gates hose since ever and never had any problems - apart from the nuisance that the engine runs too hot since a new block had to be installed (dropped valve).

I think the metal spring stops it collapsing when bent. Perhaps silicone would be softer than rubber?

silicone convoluted seems to work well with S/S engine.

Just came across this vulcoflex ,claims it does not put strain on fittings,still has wire though...

Finally found a solution, 2 x silicone hump hoses in black with an aluminium connector. Both hoses need to be cut down to fit, but should do the job. A single hose is not available in a 6 inch length.
I'll report back.
