Afternoon all,
It’s quite hot here in the UK, and couldn’t sleep, so at 4am I went to play with some spanners, my BB is terrible, it whines and the backlash sounds like a couple of bricks left loose in the rear storage.
(Backlash as you can feel it, rotating the prop).
I found it quite easy to get to once you work out how to access the compartment, (4 x M6 bolts, under the rear try). I highly recommend having a look at doing this yourselves. It’s a satisfying job, and it all goes back in a doddle.

So my car a 2012 model, has now just over 10k on it. It’s been serviced over the years, by a main dealer.
What I found was no leaks, but look what came out, measured in a standard pub type wine glass, so way to little in there.

Dirty indeed, and the sludge on the magnet was thicker than my dear old nan's rice pudding.

Anyhow, cleaned it all up, and flushed it though with some motor oil, then set about with some nice fresh extreme pressure 80w 90.
Filled to the breather, so guessing about half litre give or take.
Certainly smoother, feels better, now it might be physiological as I have just been nice to it, but when you see oil in that state you have to wonder how it’s so bad?
I still need to shim mine, or get a refurb, but I would say for the effort it was, it was enjoyable and rewarding.
