Does anyone know who makes the ECU fitted to the ARP4? I understand it isn't a Cosworth supplied item, being specified by Morgan themselves. It is buried away under the relays and fuses, and I haven't had a chance to take them out to get at it yet.

I'm guessing it could be an MBE item, which is the same as the one Cosworth supplies.

Hi Paul, I am fairly sure it is an MBE unit as you suggest

Thanks for the confirmation Dave, I don't suppose anyone knows if it is locked or open?

Even if it's locked, you can still gain a great deal of information by reading what the ECU is up to. The best place to go for MBE stuff is SBD Motorsport, who sell the Adapter to enable you to interface a laptop to the ECU. The software is free to download and is called EasyMap.

The cool thing about the software is that it offers data logging capablities, so you can go for a drive and then examine the data at your leisure.

With the MBE ECU on my car, what determines whether the ECU is locked or not is the software used to access it. The standard EasyMap software gives read-only access, but I have another version which allows updates to be made. I have no idea whether this is the same on the current ECUs, mine is 8 years old and obsolete now.

I have no idea about the MBE ECU but with the Omex ECU it can be password protected. Password protection was requested by Morgan for the the original calibration on the Omex ECU on the Plus 4SS. I have no idea if the latest calibration for the Plus 4SS (which I believe has been distributed to the dealers) is password protected.

Hi Paul

ECU is locked, and yes we are using an MBE ECU same as Cosworth.

Thanks for the confirmation Mark, did you get anything positive from your meeting with MBE?

Im rather surprised that the ECU has been locked after the problems with the P4 Super Sport.
I understand the warranty issues with the engine, but as each car is individual and would need tweaking to get it just right, leaving the ECU open at least until after the running in period would seem to be a much more sensible option.
