Just an update on trying to build 128CI motor since starting the process on February 14th.

Seems S&S is unable to get to my 2012 heads for porting and polishing? It's been over two months and they still can't tell me when they can get to them. I then find out that I can buy a new head that has larger valves that I can get shipped this week so that's my new plan is to pass on porting the old heads and buying a new head with a little bigger valve for better breathing. How big the valves are is still unknown but I will measure both when they show up next week.

Did Morgan specify a different head design with less breathing?

Anyone need a replacement head cheap?

I think the engine was intentionally dumbed down a bunch from the onset due to reliability issues with the drivetrain.

Anybody else feel no need to make it more powerful?

Not really. Still has more power than brains. Still can scratch in the first three gears and wear out tires. Still can surprise other drivers when this thing goes zooming past them.

If I wanted to race then I would do so as well as admitting to self that the engine will have to be repaired and rebuilt often and the risk of total engine failure will increase significantly. This is at the cutting edge of what a V-Twin can do. Cooling, suspension, wheels, brakes, frame will all have to be addressed.

I don't have the deep pockets necessary to do those things nor the desire.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

I would say that the stock engine is powerful enough for 95% of todays driving needs.

There is that 5% that always wants more even if you'll never need it! I'm a in this lunatic group.

I'm just looking to make the engine run more smoothly, be as powerful as it can be along with it being able to run up to it's redline being happy.

Personally, I found the pinking and strangled feel of the motor unpleasant. The clean running from the Stage One kit cured both of these issues with the added power something of a (very) pleasant bonus. I suspect that the loss of the pinking and all the excess heat that seems to go with the stock exhausts may turn out to be that rare thing in the tuning world; a modification that increases power and drivability while increasing engine longevity. What it does to the rest of the drivetrain is another question!

The intake valves grow 50mm to 58mm.
The exhaust valves about 3mm bigger.

This thing is no where near the cutting edge of what a V-Twin is capable of. Its a gimped engine to keep from running away from the drivetrain components.

Plus, some people love modifying cars and realize that when you increase one aspect, you have to continue to increase other aspects to keep up.

If it were me and I was trying to increase performance on a M3W, the first thing I would try to do after addressing the poor exhaust would be to add lightness.
