I quite like the colour of your tailpipe in the picture - a natural phenomenon or engineered? Natural, somewhat, the plug lead fell off after a long run, just simply came off, I limped it home about 1 mile, on the one cylinder, the exhaust changed colour as I expect the heat in the exhaust was igniting the unburnt fuel. Engine light came on, then once it was fixed drove approx. 2 miles, it went out again. Now just need to pull the other cap off once hot!!!

A good choice in colour Justin! Mine is also Sports Grey. I too was mystified by the colour of the exhaust. I would say that a polish with a Dremel and some autosol would bring it back to Silver. If that is if you want it. Also a sleeve of an old sweat shirt wrapped round twice with autosol and some muscle power and patience will do the job. This is a useful video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajqNR6hTSwEI give the headers this treatment every now and again and with patience it works although soon returns to a straw colour. The Exhaust is a much lower temperature so should retain its brightness.

Interesting in this and associated videos its suggested that header discoloration is a form of corrosion caused by poor quality steel. I have always found it a natural reaction with both chrome plating and stainless irrespective of quality, if the material is taken to sufficient temperature in air, although material quality does effect the readiness for this to happen. The colours yellow, straw, brown, purple, blue etc. represent increasing temperature colour indication used in tempering steel to different levels after hardening.

I use this as well, but I use aluminium wheel polish as it's a bit more aggressive that the type polish he used in the video. I have stacks of old t-shirts and they do work very well as he's shown. You get the full 360 wrap around the pipe which cuts the work time down quite a bit.

Ive had some Sports Grey paint mixed and its a perfect match. This might be 4 years late for the original poster but may help others as it wasnt easy to get a perfect match on my car. The Glasurit Numbers posted elsewhere on here were no use to my paint supplier. It seems to be an Audi exclusive colour and as our German friends on here will know ZeltGrau translates to Tent Grey or Tarpaulin Grey! RAL Zeltgrau S121.0.333 ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/07/08/IMG_8644.jpg)

RAL 7010 is, according to the RAL colour chart Tarpaulin grey. #575D57, This is the equivalent HEX colour code.
