Hi,

I have a 1995 4/4 (Zetec) and am considering replacing the exhaust manifold with the Librands stainless steel product. However this also requires the removal of the EGR valve. Can anyone advise how this is done practically. Are any other mods required (eg to the ECU)? Do the increased NOx emissions affect the MOT. In fact any information would be useful.
There is information on the internet but usually just arguments as to the pros and cons of removal.

It makes no difference to the MOT as it is checked at idle and at approx. 2,500rpm.

The EGR valve tends to work on the overrun also the MOT tests CO and HC. The valve reduces NOx outputs.

Therefore as the MOT does not measure NOx there is no way it will fail the emissions test.
